Display and Multimedia
The display on the BU201 measures at 12.5 inches and packs a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It’s quite dense for the screen size making the default icon size at 125%. It’s an IPS panel topped with an anti-glare coating and colors are pleasant with wide-viewing angles and reflection is kept to a minimum.
There are two down-firing stereo speakers on both sides of the notebook. The speakers are designed to perform well when placed on a tablet and they do get loud enough to fill in a small room and will suffice for some casual media consumption. It’s not the best speakers on a notebook but vocals can be heard clearly — good for Skype calls and other related activities.
Operating System and Apps
Upon first use, the ASUS PRO notebook boots Windows 7 Professional. The backward compatibility to the great Windows 7 will benefit those whose workplace is still not able to update to the latest Windows 8 or 10. Nevertheless, ASUS is including a CD for a quick update to the preferred Windows version.
There are not many pre-loaded apps from ASUS that we would consider as bloatware. ASUS included key apps for the BU201 like the HDD Protection software for quick settings of gyroscope’s sensitivity, ASUS PRO Business Center which is a central application for your laptop’s business features, and ASUS Fingerprint for configuration of biometric security.
The laptop’s main hard drive already has two partitions upon boot and are labeled as OS for C: and DATA for D:.
