I wasn’t expecting the Asus Transformer Prime to pop up in stores this early considering Asus Philippines has set a technical seminar with the members of the media for February 16.
This one is spotted at Villman’s website and priced at Php32,995 which includes the docking station (32GB model). They did not indicate how much the price of the tablet is but I’m thinking it’s in the Php23k to Php25k range.
Not a bad price considering the first Asus Transformer is still selling for Php29,995.
Asus Transformer Prime specs:
10.1″ Super IPS+ display @ 1280×800 pixels
Gorilla Glass
NVidia Tegra 3 1.4GHz quad-core processor
32GB and 64GB internal storage
1GB DDR2 RAM
1.2MP front-facing camera
8MP autofocus camera with LED flash
3.5mm mic & headphone combo jack
micro HDMI port
micro SD card slot
USB 2.0 port (dock)
SD Card slot (dock)
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ EDR
Google Android 3.2 Honeycomb
Will try to head over to their stores and order a unit if I can.
Update: Just made an order thru the website and opted to pay via CC directly on their store (they don’t have online payment facility). Will be picking it up at their Mall of Asia branch.

JayR says:
guys where did you get your units? i tried finding one last weekend and its crazy out of stock in manila!
i settled from a seller at tpc.
he also sells screen protector for tf201 for those who are looking for one.
bensy says:
I was ready to buy one until I read that there is a problem with GPS and on some units, WIFI.
I hope that Asus will remedy this… maybe by replacing the aluminum cover?
Lea says:
They’re releasing a newer model on Q2 (supposedly around June so probably Aug-Sept here :P) called: ASUS Transformer Prime HD TF700
–> 1920×1200 HD resolution
–> upgraded 2-megapixel front camera
–> changing its back-panel design (uglier compared to the prime) to increase the performance of GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
EM Espinoza says:
Good timing coming out with this post!!!
For a while I was considering buying Galaxy Tab 7.7 after some print ads got me excited for a couple of days. I began getting tired of waiting for the Prime. And then, pop!! It’s here. I’m getting mine on Sunday.
alainL says:
Walang online ordering facility? Wahahahaha! Pathetic.
Pinoy Technologies says:
I will recommend this Asus Transformer Prime to my friends. Great specs.
ishtangli says:
I’ve been waiting for this for a while but that price is just killer. Especially when the thing is priced exactly the same as the TF101 in the US.
alainL says:
Wasn’t it priced $100 more?
vhangell says:
pede bang bilhin nang walang dock? how much kaya?
supertoblerone says:
Check ko sa singapore kung magkano ang market price with and without the dock. :)
Lea says:
I have an acquaintance in Singapore who inquired for me.
32GB (tab + dock) = 899 Singapore dollar
(roughly P30.6K)
I was planning on asking him to buy one for me, but I’m thinking of buying here instead. :)
Jerome says:
Villman is Cool :D
marko says:
do you have any idea where I could buy a case or sleeve and screen protector for the Prime? Anyways, GPS is actually really good. It pointed my location accurately. There is no problem with WiFi as well, unless the connection itself is slow.
robert says:
The King of all tablets!
cris says:
how come the tf101, 32gb still price at P34,992?
lexterslab says:
Villman is OP.
@Pong
There is already an ICS update for it. ;)
here it is: http://gizmodo.com/5874604/transformer-prime-graduates-to-ice-cream-sandwich-today
pong says:
honeycomb pa din kala ko ba ICS na??
aba says:
The King of Android tablets.
lawrence says:
I don’t think the quadcore processor will be put into good use with android. its a waste of hardware for me. ill wait for win8 instead
gears says:
Villman says its already “AndroidTM 4.0 *1”
Ray says:
Please tell us what serial number your Prime will get from them ^__^ Might get one soon… I’m still very hesitant to get one without a fix for the Wifi issues. I don’t care about the GPS (it would be a nice bonus if it were fixed though) but weak Wifi is a deal breaker.
Rick says:
From what i heard, the wifi was fix by the ICS update. T’was basically a software problem while the GPS is a different story. Somehow it was located in a different area of the tablet where the back aluminum plate prevents it from getting a good GPS fix. But with wifi connected to a decent network, on the other hand solves it. That is if you have one while driving or walking around. But I have my GPS capable cellphone for that. GPS isn’t a deal breaker for me too.
xyzsor says:
Im just curious, do you buy every piece of tech you review here at yugatech, or do they sometimes give you a device for you to review?.. Again, im just curious.. haha..
Sonofa says:
@yuga
how do you dispose of your old units? where do you sell them?
looking to buy nice 2nd hand gadgets…ü
Abe Olandres says:
I sometimes buy the gadgets. Most are just loaner units.
Jay Ermitano says:
yaiks still an expensive sell for the local market…anyways for the specs and early exclusivity ownership i guess the price warrants it…
actually there is no flaw in the hardware itself, just the interface which runs the gps on their UI and firmware…rooting it and fixing the gps does the trick if you can spare the time and risk of doing so
Roskie Cruz says:
From… what I’ve heard, though, rooting and the firmware doesn’t work. ASUS already sent updates in the US but didn’t really do it. It’s because of the TF201’s aluminum casing that seems to prevent it from getting a good lock on the GPS signal.
I do suggest waiting for the redesigned model, if it will be available in the Philippines, or have someone send it for you.
Roskie Cruz says:
@garz: Well, there’s Photoshop Touch. :)
@yuga: Just to be sure, is this the model with the devastating GPS flaw? or is this the redesigned model?
Randy says:
As if you really know the GPS issue, research a bit more to know. Plus if you are “maparaan” there will always be a solution.
The TF700T is not out until Q2 which is the unit you are referring to.
Roskie Cruz says:
Oh. … … … Then this site made a pretty bad move to get this outdated model. :/ They should have gotten the redesigned one. :c
Abe Olandres says:
This is Model TF201 and definitely the one with the weak GPS.
garz says:
If only it could run Photoshop….
Num Lock says:
… and windows 8.
