ASUS announced a number of notebooks this afternoon and one of the most popular of the bunch is the VivoBook S15 that offers good specs for a relatively low price. Check out our initial thoughts about the device below.
ASUS is tagging the VivoBook S15 as the most premium model in the VivoBook Series. It features an aluminum chassis with an Icicle Gold finish and a body that measures 17.9mm thin and 1.5kg in weight. It may not be as thin as its ZenBook cousins, but it should suffice for those who prefer something sleeker than your standard laptop.
The 15.6-inch display with Full HD resolution stands out thanks to its 7.8mm slim bezel and 80% screen-to-body ratio — something that we don’t normally see in a laptop in this price range. ASUS calls it the NanoEdge display. It’s not touch screen though but it’s an easy trade-off considering the display size and bezel.
The S15 also features plastic chiclet keys (optional backlit) and a decently-sized trackpad. Connectivity-wise, it has three USB ports, SD Card reader, HDMI, USB-C, mic/headphone combo, and power port.
Speaking of power, the S15 is powered by the latest 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7500U processor with up to 16GB DDR4 memory and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics. There’s also an optional One-touch login with Windows Hello support. The battery, on the other hand, features a Super-Fast Charging tech that can replenish the battery to 60% in just 49 minutes.
