Dell outs Inspiron w/ Designs from Threadless

This is probably the first laptop launch I attended where the stars are just the lids and not the laptops themselves. Dell Philippines launched a new series of Inspiron, Vostro and XPS laptops that come with the latest Intel Sandy Bridge processors yesterday.

What greeted us when we arrived at the venue were dozens of these really nice-looking laptop lids.

There were a total of 25 different designs taken from a collection in Threadless and OPI. The lids are sold separately (between Php1,500USD 26INR 2,167EUR 24CNY 186 to Php2,500USD 43INR 3,612EUR 41CNY 310 each) from the Dell Inspiron 14R and 15R that came with the basic black lid cover.

Dell’s Inspiron R series comes with a variety of configurations starting with a 2nd generation Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. Startiing price for the Inpiron 14R is Php31k and it’s 32k for the 15R.

So I was actually eager to see the Dell XPS 15z that time but learned that the units could not make it as they were being held up at the Bureau of Customs. Once they do come out though, expect to shell at least Php71,500USD 1,218INR 103,289EUR 1,160CNY 8,873 for these units.
