Dual-core Asus Eee PC 1015PEM hits the stores

Dual-core Atom processors are making the rounds of the usual 10-inch netbooks. I’m currently reviewing the Eee PC 1215N but looks like the Asus Eee PC 1015PEM is also out in stores.

Asus Eee PC 1015PEM specs:
10.1″ display @ 1024×600 pixels
Intel Atom Pineview N550 Dual Core CPU
1GB DDR3 RAM (maximum 2GB)
WLAN 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 3.0
250GB HDD
0.3MP webcam
3 x USB 2.0 (2 x USB 3.0 + 1 USB 2.0 optional)
Card Reader
6-cell battery
Express Gate
Windows 7 Starter

The Asus Eee PC 1015PEM is available in white, black, blue and red and has a suggested retail price of Php21,990.

Btw, Intel and Acer Philippines will jointly announce their own dual-core Atom netbook tomorrow too (the Aspire One D255) so expect it to be almost the same as the one above.

    regarding upgrading into 2GB, i had similar problems. i tried kingston, apache and transcend brands with the same specs, voltage, frequency but when turned on my 1015 PEM did not boot only showing a black screen and the blue led light in the power button. i tried researching the net and i found some RAM brands which were recommended for the said upgrade. (though i’m still on the process of acquiring such.

    here are the two RAM cards which were supposedly compatible to ASUS 1015PEM.

    I was also advised by a technician in COMPLINK to bring my unit to any ASUS service center (NOTE: SERVICE CENTERS NOT stores) for them to personally assess if they have the compatible RAM brand. =] Hope these infos help also kindly PM me at (spikedi****@****.***) if you were able to SUCCESSFULLY upgrade your netbooks. (please include how much you spent buying that RAM)

  5. nelle says:

    nevermind. just came from megamall and bought mine from vilman. but thank you for recommending the store! now i know where to buy new gadget releases. vilman has successfully supplied what other pc stores such as gighertz, octagon, siliconvalley have failed to. cheers to villman!:))

    and tried asking whether they can also put an additional ram. they said di p dw tlga natest un especially since bago p lng ung model so i guess we have to wait pa for more updates regarding that.

  6. nelle says:

    @skype belle what color did you buy?

  7. nelle says:

    hi. its me again. i wanna know if anyone can assure me that villman does supply 1015 pem in either black or white. their branches are kinda far from where i stay so i wanna be sure that i wont be going there in vain.

    went home disappointed today after going to octagon and discovering they only supply red ones! pcgilmore also has the same problem. hope someone can point out a store with other colors. or if asusphil has any plans of supplying other colors.. am getting really frustrated. been wanting to buy this model since last week.

    That’s weird, the usual issue with netbooks is that there’s only one DIMM slot for the RAM so instead of simply popping another stick to install more RAM, you have to completely replace the existing one leaving you with one useless, lower capacity stick.

    Ask them what the issue was (like if they were out of stock compatible RAM DIMM perhaps?) and see if they can help you any further. If they can’t, ask about warranty and how will it affect your unit’s if you had another shop upgrade your RAM.

    Hope that helps.

    @lolipown

    Thanks.^^ I bought it already from Octagon (22k). I want to upgrade it to 2gb but the staff tried and he said he wasn’t able to put the 2gb ram. Hmmm. I think he said it was not compatible (can’t remeber the exact words).

    Anyway, does anyone know where I can upgrade this to 2gb? thanks. ^^

  11. nelle says:

    hi. ive been looking for this model but cant seem to find it in stores. pcgilmore in greenhills lng nakitaan ko nito pro red lng yung available. do you know of any stores with 1015 pem?

  12. lolipown says:

    @skype_belle
    just add a bit more to upgrade the RAM to 2GB and you’re home free

  13. skype_belle says:

    Hi sir, is this laptop ok for Skype (video call)?
    If not, can you kindly recommend a good laptop or netbook that can run skype + word + web browser at the same time. My budget is tight < 25k so I think I have to go for a netbook. thanks ^^

  14. David says:

    Unless these are sharply discounted, it seems like a low end laptop would be a better value, unless you really need the smaller size.

  15. vanilla21 says:

    @Jonai
    kung gusto mo talaga ng laptop for gaming dagdagan mo na ng 5k pa yang budget mo, makakabili ka na ng aspire 4745 na naka radeon 5650.. way better than those with radeon 5470 models..
