We just got our review unit of the BlackBerry Playbook today and we got word that Globe has taken lead on the release of the tablet in the Philippines with a possible launch date later this month or early next month.
What we are not sure is if it’s going to be exclusive to Globe. It certainly will not be locked considering there’s no SIM module on the Playbook.
I guess Globe’s strong partnership with RIM and its massive BlackBerry subscriber-base in the country makes it an ideal marketing strategy to offer the tablet with a plan or as a bundle with a new Blackberry phone.
What we are sure is that Globe will be the one who will announce the availability of the BlackBerry Playbook in the Philippines. Since the review units are already here, I reckon it will be 3 to 4 weeks ’til we get to the release date.
Will post more details on launch date and pricing once we get them. Expect our full review of the Playbook in a week or two.
For limited apps issues: YOU CAN NOW RUN ANDROID-BASED APPLICATIONS in BB Playbook.
For native email application issues: You can always check your emails through the BlackBerry Bridge. So it’s like viewing your emails from your handset but actually doing it on BB Playbook.
If you don’t have a BB handset but want to check you emails through the browser.

fool of a device supposedly for business & enterprise application, and yet dont have native email application.
i’d stick to the Torch, and got an iPad2 instead.
matagal ng out itong playbook sa US muntik ko ng bilin to. ok sana siya ang downside niya yun konti application. i tried to monitor yun application for how many months wala may magawa man kakaunti. so i landed on ipad 2. you can still run flash on ipad just use web browser na capable.

Sir Abe , I think you will surely win here if you join the event.Good Luck to all!
Get an Ipad 2!!! Simply the best!!!
You said it right, perfect!
this could have been better if more developers will support for apps development, this is supposed to be promising one but RIM itself stop/buried to the ground the production of Playbook to concentrate more on their smartphone units…
It’s nice, one the thing i’m dreaming of. Wish to have it.
Take a bath first before you say such things.
maganda ‘to, kaysa Ipad, na-surpass pagdating sa Acid3, HTML5 at ano pa kaya, Flash….
Hope RiM’s Playbook can really make it into iOS & Android’s playground. Gadget critics all around just recently buried HP’s TouchPad right into the ground.
Woohoo! It’s time for you to play with it ^^
