Now that didn’t took so long — the HP Mini 311 is now available and selling for Php28,990 in Complink and eHub stores. This according to a couple people who bought it this week-end and left comments here.
So I called up two branches of Complink (SM North EDSA and Park Square 1) to confirm this and they indeed have it on stock.
At 0% interest for 12 months installment, the HP Mini 311 has the ff. specs:
HP Mini 311
11.6″ display screen @ 1366 x 768 pixels
Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz
NVidia Ion LE
1GB DDR3
160GB SATA HDD
WiFi 802.11 b/g
HDMI port
5-in-1 card reader
Altec Lansing speaker
6 cell Li-Ion battery
What’s a bit confusing is that the sales ladies both quoted me a different model. One said it’s 1001 while the other said its 113. The official SKU is 311 on HP’s website. They were correct with the 11.6″ and the Php29k price though.
Will be dropping by one of the stores to check it out and probably get one for review. Hopefully, they have options to upgrade the HDD and the RAM.
Updated: Forgot to include the external DVD+RW Drive that comes with the package price.

Thanks!
But may I know how’s your HP mini 311…? I really can’t get over it.. hehehe…
meph says:
Thanks!
Can you please recommend something? Any netbook or even a laptop that’s just about the same price as he HP mini 311, and the specs is about the same or maybe even better… I prefer those with screen size of about 11-13″… Thank you so much!
Abe Olandres says:
@meph – Lenovo X100e, Asus Eee PC 1201N, MSI Wind U230
LunaTech says:
i agree…. :)
meph says:
Hello!
@Yuga… So, after a few months of using the HP Mini 311, do you still think that’s it’s worth it to buy that compared with other netbooks or even laptops in the market? I really like the specs of this netbook but I’m really confused as well. I was thinking that if I would buy this with that price, maybe it would be better to buy a full blown laptop with better specs with just about the same price. Can you please help me decide…
Thanks a lot!
Abe Olandres says:
@meph – at this point, there are so many other netbooks and CULV notebooks that worth better than this at its price point.
PaulC says:
I agree with Tsais.. We only want the unit.. We don’t need that windows 7 starter.. and also that ODD.. Consumers are being force to buy extra peripherals just to have the unit..
Tsais says:
I expected a somewhat increased price in the Philippines, but the price of 28,990 PHP is beyond all reason…the computer goes for $319 on HP’s U.S. website. At current exchange rates, 28,990 PHP converts to $616…
Apparently, its unwise to buy computers in the Philippines, yipes!
Abe Olandres says:
@tsais – there’s no tax in the US if you bought it online. In the Philippines, there’s customs tax and there’s 12% VAT so there goes your price discrepancy. Also include foreign exchange surcharges (around 2-5%). Is the one in the US also come with a DVDRW?

DDR3 2GB stick at 2,500 php sa Octagon sa Rob, Ermita. 3GB ram and Nlited na Windows XP, boot time is less than 30 seconds, make sure lang na backup nyo yung drivers na nasa swsetup sa drive c nyo, all drivers are there.
Sir Yuga, by any chance, do you know kung san nagbebenta ng HSPDA module dito pinas, yung hp p/n 483377-002, sya yung ideal sa mini e, 135 USD sa ebay at di nagship sa pinas. Thanks.

How can i buy the HP 311 here in Cebu? HP stores here has no stock of this netbook.. I would also like to avail at villMan Computers but they require you to go to Metro Manila for the processing of the credit cards.. Cebu Is so behind in terms of stocks.. sir yuga any suggestion??

I’m planning to get a globe wimax over the dsl broadband that globe offers. Just wanted to know if any of you guys has tried their service and w/c is a better deal. Also they say that the modem kit will come w/ a SIM for both plans. Can this be used w/ the hp mini 311 and do i have to tweak it to be wimax ready.
Melboy says:
After bricking my MSI u100, was planning to get the U210. But saw this mini and got this instead.
IMHO
Good point is the ION, Altec Lansing and the Dual layer lightscribe drive. And its upgradable to 3 GB ram. Multitouch was a good bonus. And the provision for a 3G modem slot with an accessible sim holder under the battery.
In the long run, i think mas gusto ko itsura nito. It is on the pricey side. And the features you get for the price is not that great, higher specs with the MSI, I agree.
After modding my U100 before, TV tuner, 3g modem, 500 GB hdd, 2GB RAM, overclock, 9 cell battery, touchscreen… Hindi ko mapalitan ang speaker… MSI needs to improve sa speakers nila, I’m impressed with the mini’s AL speakers. I know, get headphones, pero you’ll get annoyed sa headsets after a while.
IMHO lang po.
LunaTech says:
@jim
no software needed to install. isaksak mo lang ang sim sa loob then make sure windows xp ka and nakainstall ang WWAN driver mo from HP then your good to go. i cannot take a screenshot since nka Sn0w Leopard ako sa Mini ko
jim says:
@LunaTech Sir pano nyo ginawa yun? Balak ko kase humiram ng smartBro sa mga ka officemate ko then install ko yung software na kasama noon then lalagyan ko na lang ng simcard ko… yun na ba yun? or me iba pa ako kelangang gawin??
@yuga Sir do i need to create another thread for this topic??
LunaTech says:
@jim – i tried it on my Mini (Compaq Mini 700ee). it works with smart and globe but i havent tried sun cell or other sims. Kaya im also planning to buy this december, need lang mag-ipon muna.
jim says:
@yuga sir san nakakabili ng ram ddr3 2GB ng P1,500?? eto kase ang maganda sa mini 311, built in yung 1 gb ram, meaning to upgrade it, di mo na kelangan na mag alis ng memory. dagdag na lang kase me 1 slot avaiable para sa RAm.
Has any one tried yung broadband capabilities ng mga netbook dito sa pinas??? kase merong sim card slot ang mga netbook, baka pwede na lagyan na lang ng sim card tapos loadan na lang yung sim tapos para ka ng me globe tattoo or smart bro. d pa lang ako sure kung papayagan ng mga telecom providers, kase siguro wala na bibili yung mga ibenebenta nila na WIFI.
Abe Olandres says:
@jim – same store where I bought the unit. They gave me a discount one the additional 1GB stick of DDR3 RAM (cash).
Jason says:
anyone, my alam ba kyo ngbe2nta ng hp mini 311 na white swirl model? i’ve been to park square 1 in makati at lahat ng stock nila black swirl lang.

Hp Mini 311-1001TU is Available now on Villman.com @ Php 28,944.00
lolipown says:
whoops.. hit the submit button too fast. That would be 802.11n not 801.11n :D
lolipown says:
^
801.11n has a much larger throughput (from 54 Mbit/s to a theoretical maximum of 600 Mbit/s) and signal range compared to b/g.
naht1980 says:
guys malaki ba ang effect regarding sa wifi na b/g lang compare sa wifi/b/g/n? Kasi dito sa local store b/g lang.
Erich says:
Do you know of any authorized resellers that upgrades the HP Mini 311 w/ this specifications:
Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz
NVIDIA ION
3GB RAM DDR3
250/320GB HDD
802.1b/g WLAN/Bluetooth
Windows 7 32-bit OS
Kindly provide me the store name, location and the price pls.
Thanks!

29k is very reasonable price. Muntik na nga ako mapabili ng Sony Vaio W na 40k eh. Buti nalang umuwi ako ng province. Ready nko bumili nito. But i just want to make sure na it can really play HD MOVIES. Yuga try to play naman hd movies

Hi Yuga, any word on the HP dm3? I’m hoping to snag one to replace the Asus 1008HA I disposed. Thanks in advance.
Pusang Kulog says:
@lolipown – i bought it for Php34,900 from Accent Micro at SM Pampanga. Didn’t venture to go to Manila as it was November 2 and I know that traffic was too heavy. I heard that you can get it in Manila for Php33k. I’m from Bataan…
lolipown says:
@Pusang Kulog
What’s the price for the MMSI EX460?
Keizi says:
Wait nalng natin na ibenta cia d2 na me kasama nang windows 7, 250 gb hdd at 3 gb of ram:) parang sa website
Pusang Kulog says:
Ahhhh! Just bought an MSI EX460 yesterday… Sayang kasi I was waiting for a mobile unit with an ION for some time now, kaya lang tagal eh…
I would have bought HP Mini 311 instead of my MSI EX460 pero nandito na eh… And except for its size, I have no regrets with what I got…
I am currently playing Company of Heroes, and the performance is super…
Abe Olandres says:
@paulc – HP has alternatives for their netbook line. The HP Mini 110 is 19k, the Mini 2140 is 23k and the Mini 311 is Php29k. Priced evenly apart for market segmentation. Depends on your budget.
Paulc says:
29k for a netbook? No No.. Netbook should be cheap. will wait for the price to decrease..
Abe Olandres says:
@chrislpc – I guess you’re out of luck. I have not encountered any netbook that has digital audio output. I don’t think it’s on top of their to do list.
@berkano – the HP DVD writer is included inside the box and not sold separately. No way to get the netbook only without the DVD drive. I guess the drive would cost about 4k to 5k.
@albert king – you cna always buy those cheap USB TV tuners that costs about Php2k and plug them on the one netbook you really like.
@Jes – comes pre-installed with Windows XP
@kenneth – almost all major shops (Complink, VillaMan, eHub, Electroworld, etc.) accept 12 months at 0% interest as long as major credit card.
@braindead – the RAM is upgradeable to 2GB DDR3 for Php1,500.
chrislpc says:
@berkano you are right but you need a receiver with HDMI to fully enjoy the audio. This unit is not for poor souls like me who own a legacy receiver with only coaxial and optical digital inputs.
berkano says:
^^ I guess why they didn’t include that is because of the HDMI. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe both Wind and Mini is capable of passing video and audio through the single cable.
chrislpc says:
another one of those units with HDMI but no digital audio out, this is definitely not for me even if the price goes down to 15k.
berkano says:
MSI Wind12 U210x
12.1″ screen @ 1355×768 pixels
AMD Athlon Neo X2 L335 1.6GHz Dual Core
2GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 1270 128MB
250GB Toshiba SATA HDD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
1.3MP webcam
4-in-1 card reader
3 USB 2.0 ports
HDMI port
9-cell battery
Pluses
*bigger screen
*double RAM capacity (but DDR2?)
*larger HDD
* wifi has 802.11n
* 9 cell battery
*all for a price that is cheaper (supposedly)
Minuses (against Mini 311)
*kulang na lang ng isa para maging 5-in-1
*no Altec Lansing speakers
*Blander design (look at the the mini, it’s sexy)
*no external dvd player/writer
toss up na siguro yung proc at graphics (I’ve seen the U210x play COD4 and N4S as well.)
berkano says:
Ay sorry bro may external DVD drive na pala yun… magkano kaya kung wala, tapos my OEM na Windows 7 hehehe
berkano says:
so technically the Php 6,000 difference is because of the DDR3 Ram, na 1GB lang? bakit ba ang hirap pumili!? Will it be Wind or Mini for me?
braindead says:
hey guys, the 29k comes with an external dvd drive
Reel Advice says:
Yeah, the MSI Wind looks definitely better even if we just consider the specs alone. DDR3 is a looker but would it really make a difference when we are talking about netbooks here?
dexter says:
this is expensive. it’s just 399 dollars in hp’s website with xp OS
lyn says:
looks neat…. but at almost P29k, it’s pricey. i agree, the MSI U210 is a better buy.
Albert King says:
Its a bit expensive considering that some of the same specs are pegged at less than 25 k don’t you think? I’ve heard that DDR3 Ram are also expensive than ordinary, what’s the need for DDR3 anyway?
By the way, any word on the laptop models with built in TV tuner? I hope you can feature one again.
Jes says:
29K with no OS yet? How common is DDR3 laptop mems now?
Kenneth says:
Great!
I’m opting to buy a new netbook/notebook sometime around this month in replace for my old Acer notebook. I wonder if you’ve got any shops in mind that accepts installments? :-D
Jovz says:
its pricey compared to the MSI U210 which has better specs but it looks nice though =)
jpeb says:
its a bit expensive
Sherwin says:
It should be able to handle cs3 with ease once you’ve upgraded the ram. The unit comes with a blank ram slot so you can add a 2gb ram on top of the built in 1gb amounting to 3gb max.
braindead says:
im planning to get this for myself as a christmas gift. was wondring if it can be able to handles CS3, and if the ddr is upgradable.
