Microsoft Edge might soon be getting a feature a lot of users would probably want, a VPN.
In a support page by Microsoft, the company revealed that it is adding a free built-in VPN service called the Edge Secure Network to its web browser. The company says that this tool will encrypt a user’s internet connection. The Microsoft Edge Secure Network is a service provided in partnership with Cloudflare. Cloudflare is committed to privacy and collects a limited amount of diagnostic and support data acting as Microsoft’s data subprocessor in order to provide the services. Cloudflare permanently deletes the diagnostic and support data collected every 25 hours.
Users can use the feature to encrypt their internet connection and protect their data from their current ISP. Users can also mask their location as well so users might possibly be able to access geo protected sights that are blocked in their home country.
The feature though comes with a catch. It limits a user to just 1GB of data per month and users must have a Microsoft account as well to use the service.
The service will roll out soon but Microsoft hasn’t revealed any specific release dates as of now so stay tuned.
