We got some pretty solid information from the local Asus office that the Google Nexus 7 is coming this November. The shipments will be more than enough for local demand and the good news is that the 32GB model will be the one that will reach our shores.
We could not squeeze the exact date but it’s safe to say that it will be before the end of November.
As for the expected retail price, we were juggling around the idea of Php14,999 or something close to that figure. Considering that Google has also dropped the price of the 16GB model in the US from $249 to $199, we’re pretty confident the 32GB will be under Php15k.

I will get it March next year. Maybe either with or without 3G. If it’s not available here in the Phil., I could buy Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 another affordable price from Samsung.
Questions on Nexus 7 in the Philippines:
1. Why is 32GB Wi-Fi only and Wifi with 3G to be released in the Phil on November? And who will be the one to sell the tablet? Google Play or ASUS PH?
2. What are accessories available when Nexus 7 officially releases in the
Philippines?
3. When 3G-enabled releases here, will it be available as a postpaid plan on Globe, Smart, and Sun Celluar?

Hi Yuga and fellow readers, will the price be cheaper (USD 299 for a 32gb/ 3G nexus 7) if this is bought in the US (including taxes) and is brought back here by a balikbayan relative, compared to the would be price for the same unit to be set by Asus or by the retailers here in the Philippines? Any idea? Appreciate if anyone could give the price comparison (estimates would be fine) Thank you very much.
Abe Olandres says:
it will be cheaper since you get free shipping and free customs tax.
Paul says:
Not doubting you sir yuga, but how sure are the sources this time?
This is like the third time I’ve read a blog post about Asus bringing the Nexus 7 to the Philippines.
Coming in July 2012!… NOT

Coming in October 2012… well they still have until tomorrow, but most likely also NOT

Looks like ASUS is pulling a 3 times the charm on us but TBH I’m sick of it. All I ask from ASUS is a sure solid date and they deliver it.
I love this device, I tried a friend’s gray unit and it just blows my mind away. Anyway I do hope ASUS commits to this deadline Sir Yuga.
Cheers!

Just talked to the Product Manager so my word is as good as his.

is this the cellular version sir?

Gusto ko ng 32GB Nexus 7, kaso hindi ko gusto iwan iPad ko dahil sa app ecosystem. Perfect size para sakin ang 7 inches. And that price!! Pero ayoko muna lumipat to Android, maybe when a lot more apps become optimized lilipat na ako.
sam says:
Just curious, what particular apps are missing in Android?
Lexi says:
I wish I could get one. Except I set my heart with an iPad mini. I’m after their damn ecosystem. Just wish Google can compare with the number of tablet optimized apps Apple have.

wala pako nakikita dito sa US na 16gb na $199. pero yan din balita dito. saan daw meron? im here in the us visiting till december. sana makabili ako ng 16gb na $199 bago makauwi :)
jc says:
Currently available for order. 3 – 5 days delivery time.

JB says:
Are they also going to offer the version with HSPA+ connectivity?
Lester says:
Apologies. I stand corrected. I read an article from The Verge that there are 2 32Gb versions of the Nexus 7. One is WiFi only and the other is WiFi+Mobile (with HSPA+).
Lester says:
Dude. The 32Gb Nexus 7 is “the” HSPA+ version.
deuts says:
Great! Now, are you getting one?
ryanrudolf says:
Im not getting one, im keeping my Nexus7 16GB . . . might be worth of value / converstaion piece when time comes (10-20 years from now?) Original reason, i dont have extra money to spare . . . :)
ryanrudolf says:
I got my 16GB Nexus7, johnny air delivered it Oct12. Overall damage was 250$, free shipping in the US kapag lampas 100$, then wala na ako binayad sa johnny air kasi pinasabay ko sa balikbayan box ng kakilala ko. I got the dollar back then 1$=41.8. Not bad at all. I still have around 7~8GB free . . .
Mkkk says:
When will this be available in Google Play Ph?
Mkkk says:
Really want to buy this. Where can I buy this with the same price Google is offering?
hitsax says:
duuuuuuuuuuuuude don’t count on it. asus ph will be the one who’s selling the nexi not google. and they’ll apparently only be selling the much expensive 32gb
hitsax says:
bakit 32gb lang ang dadalin sa pilipinas e 16gb lang ang afford ng mga tao dito. hays sobra sobra para sa akin ang 32gb di ko naman lalagyan ng mga songs yan.. :< 16gb/ 8gb is my NEED
itachi1 says:
speak for yourself… 16gb is so 2009…
Eason says:
on the contrary Filipinos like the HIGHEST SPECS. Often those who wants the highest specs possible get their ways even from importing the goods.
That is why ASUS Philippines decided to wait and supply the 32GB variant.
