Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 mobile processor now official

Qualcomm has just unveiled the new Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, the successor to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 launched last year.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is the first in the series to be built on a 4nm process whilst its predecessor was built on a 6nm process.

It also features Qualcomm’s Kryo CPU that clocks up to 2.2 GHz and is said to pack up to a 10% jump in performance. It will also have support for 120FPS FHD+ displays for stutter-free visuals and UFS 3.1 for faster data processing.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is also the series-first to support 3GPP Release 16 5G technology with its Snapdragon X61 5G Modem-RF System for faster data speeds together with Qualcomm Wi-Fi 5 for dependable connections.

For camera processing, it features intelligent noise reduction that is said to help eliminate grainy or hazy aspects, as well as faster autofocus for clear action shots.

According to Qualcomm, phones with the chip will be able to shoot at 1080p at 60FPS and 720P at 120FPS for slow motion capture while also now having Electronic Image Stabilization.

It also has AI-enhanced Low Light for brighter and crisper photos in dim environments and Qualcomm Spectra ISP for multi-camera photo and video capture.

It also features Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ Technology that lets phones charge up to 50% battery life in just 15 minutes.

As for smartphones that will soon be coming with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, none have been confirmed thus far but we can expect them to be coming in the next few months.
