OF all the new devices we spotted this evening at SM Cyberzone, one of the most tempting one would be this 7-inch Ainol Novo 7 Venus tablet that runs on Jellybean and a quad-core processor.
We’ve tried and review the previous Ainol Paladin and Aurora so we know the tablet line is pretty solid and really affordable.
Ainol Novo 7 Venus specs:
7-inch IPS LCD 720p HD display @ 1280×800 pixels
ATM7029 ARM Cortex A9 1.5GHz quad-core
1GB DDR3 RAM
16GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
2MP rear camera
0.3MP front-facing camera
Li-IOn 4,000mAh battery
Android 4.1 Jellybean
186.2mm x 126.9mm x 10.8mm (dimensions)
320 grams (weight)
Most of the core specs are at par with the Nexus 7 but the design is actually pretty close. The unit that we saw was the only one that’s being sold and we don’t think it’s an official local release.
Nevertheless, even at a jacked up price of Php10,000 for this device (regular price in the US is $159) the Novo 7 Venus seems pretty tempting.

My Fusion Bolt is working perfectly, I just updated its ROM from Ainol.. cuz unfortunately, Cherry Mobile engineered a crappy ROM for it..
Everything works perfectly, although a really little UI lag.. I’m using ES task manager to prevent apps from EATING my 687MB RAM (it’s not 1GB.. cost-cutting)
You only need to perfectly adjust its settings, always monitor your apps, and do not download CRAPPY / USELESS apps.. :)
Some of my vital apps:
ES Task Manager
AVG Antivirus
AVG Cache Cleaner
AVG Zen
ESET USSD Control

Opinion says:
The Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt is the “Ainol Novo Venus 7 Lite”…
This Novo 7 is much faster, cuz the firmware is engineered perfectly by Ainol compared to Cherry Mobile.. and.. This has 1.5GHz clocking compared to Fusion Bolt with 1.0 GHz

Got this tab.actually its only 1.2ghz quad CPU and vivante dual GPU.nenamark 2 scores only 35.5 fps. Antutu score max is 12388 only after lots of tweaking with pimpmyrom and swapping internal with external SD. Advantage is its able to read external hard drive, tested with 500gb. Otg keyboard and mouse works. Can play to TV via HDMI. The 7inch screen is 160dpi. no need to root cause its already rooted. Disadvantage is one must tweak it to make it stable.3d games could have been faster if it used a mali 400 quad GPU. No bluetooth, no gps and lacks lots of sensors. I also got a ramosw30 which has more responsive display and higher antutu benchmark score of 15044 and nenamar 2 score of 55.8fps.
Freeje says:
How’d you get to tweak it so it’s stable? What firmware are you using? Have you tired connecting multiple devices susch as keyboard and mouse at the same time using a USB hub?

@Ivan, @Apollo
I bought an Ainol Fire around September last year. I was really impressed with it’s build quality and the screen. I’m still using it right now, and still happy with it. And my Fire gets a head turn among sammy’s plasticky-7″-tabs crowd. it really doesn’t look cheap, it screams premium! :)
on the hardware/software side, no lags, no hangs, no ramdom reboots, battery life is pretty decent. big-bang-for-my-buck! :)
lawrence says:
I can play Temple Run 2 with no lags. so, I guess, my gyro is still working. ;-)
Apollo says:
@IVAN, a lesson learned :(. tinamaan ako sa lahat ng consequences of buying chepo tablet. What a waste of money after all.
Ryan says:
In deed apollo. Last Dec me and my officemate bought tablets. I choose Ipad 3 and he chooses Ainol fire. Now his tablet sira na agad ung gyro sensor. He told me that he wont buy anymore cheap products. You get what you pay for ika nga.
Ivan says:
I’m sorry but when you pay for something this cheap then you will surely get what you pay for. Poor build quality. Unstable OS. Non-upgradeable OS. Lags. Hangs. Randoom reboots. Poor battery life. Warranty hassles. Poor after sales support and service.
