Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 and 4 Gen 1 chipsets now official

Qualcomm has announced two new chipsets for the mid-tier and mass-volume segments, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 (4nm) and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 (6nm).

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 integrates a triple ISP that allows a device to rapidly capture bright images from three cameras at once. Users will be able to capture 108MP photos or record videos with computational HDR via support for staggered HDR image sensors.

Other features include 7th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine for 3x improved AI performance compared to its predecessor, 35% quicker graphics rendering, up to 40% faster processing, supports HDR gaming at 60+fps, has the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF System for fast 5G connectivity and Qualcomm FastConnect 6700 to deliver 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

For the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, it delivers up to 15% improved CPU and up to 10% enhanced GPU compared to the previous generation. It also features triple ISP and Multi-Frame Noise Reduction for sharp and detailed photos, 108MP image capture, Qualcomm AI Engine, Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF System, and FastConnect 6200 for premium 2×2 Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2.

Devices based on Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 are expected to be commercially available in Q1 2023 and devices based on Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 are expected to be commercially available in Q3 2022.
