Samsung Odyssey Ark 55-inch 4K gaming monitor w/ 165Hz refresh rate now official

Samsung has just announced the global launch of the Odyssey Ark. Hailed as the world’s first 55-inch 4K 1000R curved gaming screen with mind-bending features such as a 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, a Cockpit Mode, and its exclusive controller, the Ark Dial.

The display itself is a 55-inch 4K 1000R curvature with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The panel uses Quantum Mini LEDs with 14-bit processing that allows ultra-fine control of its LEDs allowing a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and 16,384 black levels.

It also supports a refresh rate of 165Hz and a 1ms response time with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro for competitive gaming. On top of that, users can enjoy games from Samsung’s Gaming Hub which sees partners from Xbox, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Google Stadia, and more.

Samsung Odyssey Ark 2

Cockpit Mode is simply the ability of the Odyssey Ark to rotate 90° in a way that keeps the screen vertical when viewing. This is made possible with its height and tilt adjustable stand and wall mount options.

The Ark Dial is the exclusive control for the Odyssey Ark allowing users to simply and quickly control the monitor’s settings such as Flex Move Screen, Multi View, Quick Settings, and Game Bar. The Ark Dial is also charged via USB-C, eliminating the need for disposable batteries.

Flex Move Screen allows users to adjust the screen size between 55 and 27 inches, change the screen position, and switch screen ratios to between 16:9, 21:9, and 32:9 when either in horizontal or vertical mode.

Multi View allows users to display up to four screens simultaneously while horizontal or three while in Cockpit Mode. Game Bar is a gaming tool that allows players to quickly view their gaming status and settings such as checking their FPS without ever needing to leave their game screen.

It also boasts an impressive sound system with 4 speakers and 2 woofers that result in a total output of 60W while having support for Sound Dome Tech and Dolby Atmos.
