Seagate introduces 5TB portable hard drive

When we talk about portable hard drives or external HDDs, the capacities that come to mind is 500GB, 1TB, or 2TB. That’s about to change though as Seagate has just launched the Backup Plus Portable 5TB drive.

Seagate claims that the 5TB portable hard drive is the largest capacity mobile drive on the market. The new storage solution was made possible thanks to the new BarraCuda internal drive featuring the 2.5-inch 1TB platter technology. That said, the Backup Plus 5TB drive will be the first device to ship with the new BarraCuda 5TB drive.

As for features, it has customizable backup options with Seagate Dashboard software for easy local, mobile, cloud and social media backup, USB 3.0 connectivity, and 20.5mm form factor with aluminum cover.

The Seagate Backup Plus Portable 5TB drive will be available this month for an MSRP of $189.99PHP 11,150INR 16,102EUR 181CNY 1,383 in black, silver, red and blue color options at consumer electronics resellers worldwide.
