Late last week, Sony Philippines sent us their latest Android tablet — the Xperia Tablet S. I promptly asked for the suggested retail price and local availability.
The Xperia Tablet S is the 2nd generation Android tablet from Sony. It sports the same deign but much thinner and lighter.
The Xperia Tablet S is also the predecessor of the recently announced Xperia Tablet Z.
Sony Xperia Tablet S specs:
9.4-inch LCD @ 1280×800 pixels
NVidia Tegra 3 1.4GHz quad-core processor
1GB RAM
16GB, 32GB, 64GB internal storage
up to 32GB via mSD card
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 3.0
IR remote
8MP rear camera
1MP front-facing camera
Android 4.0 ICS
Suggested retail price for the 16GB model is Php23,999 while the 32GB model is Php28,999. As for availability, it was supposed to be back in last week of December but was delayed. New dates have been set but not yet finalized. Will post our unboxing photos tomorrow and share some first impressions.

Tried a demo unit of this tablet in a Sony store. The screen resolution is terrible. At that price, one can buy an iPad with retina display.
Sony products are just to overpriced. As usual.
Justin says:
P29k for an ICS tablet? No LTE? 3G? NFC? Nice! :)
Donx2 says:
Hintayin nyo na lang guys yung xperia tablet Z, Mas ok ang specs and mas manipis pa.
Apollo says:
Search nyo guys ibang unbranded tablet with same specs pero half the price. Ramos w30/hd, novo hero 2.
bingo says:
eh, tingnan mo yung specs ng camera nya?
SonyBOBO says:

I saw this one personally at Sony Store SM Cebu.. it’s really great and feel elegant because of half glass at the back.. but the problem is only 1 GB RAM which is suppose to be this model only for last year.. so Kung sumabay ito sa iPad 3 at Samsung Tab. cgro ito ang mas mabenta.. too bad too late nila ni release d2 sa Pinas obsolete na tuloy. better luck next time Sony…!
von says:
OMG so last year pa yang tablet na yan ha???

So ‘yung Z at ZL, mid-2013 pa nila ilalabas at high price?
Chinitoguy says:
Better wait for the Sony Xperia Tablet Z.
Jcnjcjcnjc says:
Just too late.
roiji says:
i’ll hold out on buying this until maging available (or free sana) yung capacitive keyboard cover thing…
it’s available now in Sony Center at the New Glorietta.
mhariz says:
Saan po banda s glorieta ung Sony Center? At how much po ang tab s? Plano ko po kc bumile nyan..thanks :-)
Simplynice says:
Sony is cheating its customers when they release a new phone with old android version. Even if specs-wise, their gadget is already compatible with newest android release.
Frazen says:
Isn’t too late for sony to release that?
Smokescreen says:
For the price, at least it should have a 2GB RAM.
Apollo says:
A bit overpriced, I think? It should have NFC and a higher RAM.
don says:
sa tablet market, its ipad vs all of them.
so i think they should definitely make the price cheaper. why buy that one if makaka bili nako nyan ng ipad 4?
just my thoughts po Sony. :D
