The launch of the first Google Nexus 7 back in 2012 has undoubtedly paved the way for cheaper Android tablets in the market. Toshiba is trying to replicate that same game plan, but it’s doing so in the Windows tablet section. Folks meet the Toshiba Encore 7, a Windows 8.1 tablet with a 7-inch display which would probably be retailed for under $150.
Toshiba Encore 7 specs:
7-inch TN display @ 1024×600 pixels, 170ppi
Intel Atom Z3735 1.33GHz quad-core processor
Intel HD Graphics
1GB RAM
Expandable 16GB internal memory
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
GPS
Micro-HDMI out
Windows 8.1
Currently, details about the new Toshiba Encore 7 are few and far in between. During the announcement, there was no mention of its SRP and the exact date of when it’s going to be available in the market.
So where did we get its USD150 price tag? Simple, we just based in on the fact that it’s bigger brother, the 8-inch Encore 2 is being sold for USD199. So unless something goes totally wrong with the folks at Toshiba, we don’t see why this tablet will be priced any higher than $150.
this is full windows 8.1 x86… not RT
this will run any x86 programs you love on your desktops and laptops provided those apps can run at 1084×768
Microsoft has significantly lowered Licensing fees for both Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 to attract more manufacturers to make devices more competitive within the Tablet/Smartphone segment
its not gonna be blazing fast but it will do everyday typical tasks
i didnt do any research but i think the writer is mistaken into thinking it will have win8.1! the 1280×800 models will be win8.1, this 1024×768 could be just android OS. the win8.1 products will retail for $250 and up while this android device is to be sold at $150…. if im wrong then let’s be happy, i want a cheap lightweight win8.1 tablet too
Yan ang inaabangan ko eh. Japanese brand.
K. I want another toy. This time a full windows8.1 device. Nalilito lang ako sa windows phone 8.1 at sa full windows 8.1 devices. Like pwede ba maginstall ng nga pc games dyan?
Yup. Full Windows 8.1 ito, hindi Windows Phone (pang cell phone lang yun), kaya pwedeng installan ng kahit anong games/programs, just like a laptop/PC.
Pnag windows store lang ang games nya.
