We’ve managed to get a sneak peek of the Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD that’s one ultrabook of a kind. This 13-nch ultrabook features a full HD 1080p display and a discrete graphics (NVidia GT 620M).
The Zenbook Prime UX32VD had some slight redesign as it is a bit thicker than the usual 1st and 2nd-generation Zenbook. Asus tells me this is because of the addition of the discrete graphics.
Nevertheless, the difference isn’t that much but what’s inside this thin ultrabook could change your mind about getting one for portable gaming.
I am told that on top of the NVidia GT 620M, they’ve also replaced the storage to a hybrid 320GB HDD (with 24GB SSD for caching). Based on the Windows Experience Index of 7.5 for the HDD, that’s still pretty good.
And speaking of WEI, the Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor got a sub-score of 7.1 while the graphics got a sub-score of 6.2.
Asus will definitely release the Zenbook Prime UX32VD in the Philippines in the coming months. Estimated price is just Php5k shy of the Zenbook Prime UX31A so that’s about Php65,000.

I smell something burning.
Calvin says:
wow that’s gonna run hot, thin bodied laptop for gaming.
steelicon says:
Wake me up when they can finally have a REAL breakthrough in slimline portable battery life.
Icebernz says:
MSI cheap? compare mo nga sa GT70 o GT60…
Obob says:
Not too sure but I think NEO offers good-spec’ed laptop… Got an MSI lappy too and I’ll recplace this one in just a few months – thinking if it’s Neo or MSi again.
Eingild says:
Nakalimutan ko rin pala banggitin na it comes with a Full HD 1920x1080p screen and dynaudio speakers with 1 subwoofer. Sarap bumili ng MSI, di ka hinuthutan ng pera. :)
Eingild says:
Dude, walang may alam ng laptop na yan. Tayo lang nakakaalam niyan kaya mas okay. Konti lang tayong mag-eenjoy. Though, GT683 lang akin, I could say that my money was well spent. For just a shy of 52k, I got an i5-2430 procie, 8gb of RAM and a 1.5gb GDDR5 GTX560M of VC. Sarap bumili sa MSI. You really get what you pay for. May kasama pang free Steel Series V3 Full Headset plus MSI Led is definitely a wow factor. MSI ang best pc manufacturer para sakin. ;)
don says:
my only problem with asus and acer is maganda specs nila.. pero yun over all look ng laptop nila, mukhang cheap. why wont they just imitate apple laptops and some hp laptops?
maganda kasi specs nila but pag titingnan mo masasabi mo agad na, ay i know its acer.. or asus.. or msi…
alloneaian says:
@Bobby Seriously hello kitty or rainbow color? that’s just exaggerated or you’re just so gay. When choosing to buy a good laptop the looks goes to the bottom of the list, below specs and brand, at least for people who thinks of how well they’re laptop should perform.
Nathan says:
Wow, comparing ASUS to Acer, MSI and HP?
If you even compare there notebooks, the Zenbook is the only Ultrabook that stands out. What’s “Ulgly” in there?
Or your standards are just mac like and your budget is so low?
For me the Zenbook beats the Macbook air, this already won my heart among other manufacturers as well. The Bang & Olufsen speakers and FULL HD IPS screen is the big winner for me, which even Apple don’t have yet.
Fleeb says:
Maganda talaga ipaalam sa nakatingin sayo sa Starbucks na kaya mong bumili ng mamahaling laptop. In the end, it’s the chassis that matters.
Gray says:
The Zenbooks don’t look cheap. Well, because, they are not cheap.
As for the other budget laptops by Asus, you get what you pay for. The cheapo laptops of HP doesn’t look good and besides, if I wanted a Mac, I’d buy a Mac. A Mac ripoff is worse than a unique-yet-slightly-cheaper looking notebook.
bobby says:
Factor pa rin talaga ang hitsura ng laptops sa pagpili ng maraming consumers. Wag naman sabihin mang-mang ang isang consumer if he considers the look of the products the same way he considers specs. Ikaw ba, bibili ka ba ng laptop with superior specs pero yung body niya hugis Hello Kitty or kakulay ng rainbow? hehehe…
ROTFL says:
John says:
Asus is far superior than MSI and ACER
Roegan Taron says:
Why do you sound surprised? It’s not like it has a GTX 680 in it.
The UX32X has a GT 640M graphics card. ASUS has remained quiet about this one because they’re having battery issues with it.
For 65k, it’s still not worth it.
ice says:
GTX 680 or whatever, with a form factor like that it’s still quite surprising.
