Stumbled into the site a few months back and only re-discovered it when I met up with one of the founders of PicLyf. It’s not just your typical photo-sharing site — it makes it more fun by incorporating tools and features such as redistribution to other social networking sites like Flickr, Twitter and Facebook.
Log in using your Twitter, Flickr or Facebook account, follow friends in your network, upload photos, or you can even doodle or draw a pic to share with friends and followers. You even earn badges (ala FourSquare) whenever you make some achievements on the site.
I suggested to them that mobile apps for iPhone and Android would really help in making the site more sticky and I think they’re working double-time to make that happen.
PicLyf is a home-grown site, developed and ran by fellow Filipino entrepreneurs and kick-ass developers. It’s one of the very few local start-ups that I think has the potential to make it big, not only in the Philippines but around the world. It’s an effort worthy of my support.
And speaking of fun, we’re on our 2nd month of out Lenovo Contest. The October one just ended last midnight and we’ll announce the winners in a day or two. For the meantime, I’d like to use the “fun” theme of PicLyf for our fun giveaways with Lenovo. Anybody dying to get that Lenovo gaming laptop this December?
Here’s the mock-up of our next contest page:
We’ll post the full details of this next contest later tonight. It will be all about geeky fun and sharing photos so prepare all your pictures already, sign up or login to PicLyf here (you can use your FB or Twitter account to login) and wait for our instructions. And don’t forget to follow me at http://piclyf.com/abeolandres.

PicLyf also has quests/games. If you’ve seen the ‘Pic your President’ polling page that was very popular last May, that was a feature of PicLyf.
Their mobile app is called PicLyf Snap. I’ve been testing it since last month. While the UI needs polish, the feature set is really good. I find myself using it regularly.

Oh, glad to know I am not crazy because when someone texted me about PicLyf being a Filipino start-up, I know I already saw them some months back.
The only thing that surprised me was that “PicLyf” is a Filipino product :D And to think, I discovered them from a foreigner.
