Yup, I just became a Millionaire right after I exchanged my dollars to Indonesian Rupiah. :D *hehehe*
The running exchange rate is $1PHP 59INR 85EUR 0.95CNY 7 = 9170 but the bank’s rate at the airport is $1PHP 59INR 85EUR 0.95CNY 7 = 8,800 rupiah. So, if you have $115PHP 6,749INR 9,746EUR 110CNY 837 US dollars, you’ll get just over 1 Million rupiahs with it.
There’s no worry having to carry around bundles and bundles of paper notes since denominations are in the 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000 and 100,000.
Still, one needs to get to use with it. I still automatically convert stuff into US dollars when looking at prices. Imagine paying Rp 180,000 for a taxi ride from the Soeharto-Hata Soekarno-Hatta airport to the hotel? *heh*
What’s funnier is the reaction I got from the bellboy after I handed him a Rp1,000 tip. That’s like just 5 pesos! :D

hahaha..Abe..Welcome to Jakarta…..
Taxi is more expensive actually compare to our taxi in manila though gasoline is cheaper in indonesia (around 29 pesos).
Please make sure you only ride “Blue Bird” taxi if you want to go around….dont take “Prestasi” taxi….for your safety..
The airport is Soekarno-Hatta…. Soeharto is still alive..(I wonder why..hahahahaha)
Where you staying in jakarta?

Haven’t seen that device locally. It means they don’t see any market for it here or it’s way too expensive.
I haven’t tried nor seen it too.
