Poll: Which locally distributed brand makes the best smartphones?

Last month, we ran a poll asking which global brands make the best Android phones. This time we’d like to do a similar poll for the local brands or the ones that only distribute their units in the Philippines. Head on to the poll widget below to vote.

We have the likes of Cherry Mobile, Torque and MyPhone that’s been around for 3 years or so. Then, the new players like O+ and Starmobile and second-tier names like Arc Mobile, SKK and DCT also joined in.

Pick the one which you think offers the best value for the product that they sell.

  1. Bakit kasali ang STARMOBILE?

  2. makes the best smartphones? really? sila gumagawa ng products nila?

    • Sinabi naman sa intro included local distributors. So pasok padin mga nagrerebrand. Walag CDR king?

    • then the title must be, Local Phone Distros aight?

  4. O+ isn’t a local brand. US brand sya. Bakit kasama sa polls?

    • DTC isn’t a local brand as well.

    Sent from my Android.

  6. no local brand AFAIK actually MAKES phones so we have to include rebranding and distribution

I have a starmobile and i chose it over O+ only because it had a free screen protector as well as dragontrail glass

those 2 are my top choices

  7. I vote for MyPhone

  8. Cherry Mobile FTW!!!
They are the only brand who can offer good-spec’d devices at a ridiculously low-price. Fusion Bolt and Flare are truly killer devices for their affordable price and no other brands could ever touch them.

    Cherry Mobile > Samsung > Apple > Micro$oft

As always, laging kulelat ang Micro$oft dahil sa crappy Window$ OS, lolz.

    • Talaga lang ha, kaya pala yung Flare ko wala pa 6 mos sira na, dinala ko sa kulungan este service center ng cherry, ayun software issue lang daw pero hindi magawa gawa, the worst service center ever, you should visit their service center in north edsa to know what im talkin about….

    • abuzalzal tigas-titi para sa Cherry Mobile! Hahaha!

      … abuzalzal c===3 CM

    • oi bobong abuzalzal hinde lang value for money ang basehan ng dabest local smartphone brand, aanhin mo ang sobrang murang phone na may highend specs kung ilang buwan lang eh sira na agad, at malabo nang maayos edi sa huli mapapamahal ka din. mas okay na ung magbayad ng mas mahal basta sure sa quality at kung may problema man ay maganda ang customer service at magagamit mo ng ilang taon.

    • crappy your face! iphone with android os FTW!!!

    • lol flare at fusion bolt killer devices? dami ngang defect(multitouch issues, almost 50% of sold phones have dead pixels, TN TFT LCD ang screen pero CM advertised them as IPS panel) ni flare tapos sobrang proud mo na sa phone na yan? nakahawak ka na ba ng Windows phone? kahit siguro ang single core windows phone mas lag free pa kesa dual core CM flare mo. lol.

      cherrymobile. kacheapan.

im not a local brand fan pero bilib ako sa build quality ng myphone. yung myphone a888 duo(with IPS display) ng kaklase ko mas mamahalin pang tingnan kung ikukumpara sa low end phones ng LG , samsung ang even Lenovo. :D kung may plano man akong bumili ng local branded phone, ill go with Myphone :D

  9. I think it would be difficult to get any big conclusions out of this poll. People will obviously vote for the brand they are using even if they haven’t tried competitors.

I think it would be better if Yugatech does some kinda faceoff. Take the most popular phones of each brand with competing price tags and see what excels. Yugatech has the experience with all brands so they can tell us which local brand is best in what areas (reliability, support, updates, build quality, screen, camera etc.)

  10. smartphone makers??? you know better than that author.. this is a lame article..

  11. From assembly to chassis painting, I think sa Shenzen lahat

Packaging lang yata ginagawa sa Pinas, hehe
Oo nga naman chief YUGA, mali yung title mo

  12. Eh rebranded lng nmn mga phones nila eh

  13. bakt po di ksama Cloudfone?

  14. bakit di po kasali dito ang Cloudfone????

Which local brand markets the best smartphone”.

  16. As a whole the best local brands are in this order

    1 Cherry
    2 Myphone
    3 Starmobile

  17. This poll is stupid.

  23. for tablets, im pretty much blown away by what Novo7tech has in the market right now.

  24. whether it’s local brand or distro, im pretty much blown away by what Novo7tech has in the market right now.

  25. ba’t walang Cloudfone?

  27. Bakit kasama yung O+? US brand daw sila sabi nila.

  28. Its Starmobile and MyPhone for me. I owned a MyPhone A888 earlier this year and it was really a solid experience. Hardware never gave up despite my heavy and abusive use. Now I own a Starmobile Icon. I’ve been using for 2 months and no problem at all both hardware and software.

    • yah…right…myphone and starmobile is the best among all

  29. MyPhone for me….simple lang …SOLID :D

  30. the title of the poll should read: Which Local Brand [Rebrands] the Best Smartphones?

  31. I’m never buying cherry mobile again. Some of their products are good, but their after sales service sucks. I bought a CM fusion fire and after 2 weeks, its touch screen broke down w/o any physical damage and etc. Plus it’s very slow, runs like a dual core w/ 512mb ram. I found out the Fusion fire’s processor is not an actual Cortex A9 but a measly Cortex A5. It has been almost 2 months already and still no news about the tab. Will be buying an ipad 5, a galaxy note 10.1 (2014 ed), Or if MyPhone releases a good tab.

  32. are we going to see any of these locals turn out a windows phone soon?

It surprisingly felt solid, although I hated the map and plastic back cover. Voice calls were crystal clear. Qwerty so madaling magsms. It was a dual sim and walang problema, both sims were active. We made it our wireless landline kasi ang galing ng voice call. It never had to be serviced. Since hindi pa naman sya android, charge lasts for 3 days with moderate call and sms use. I’ve also tried buying a Cherry Mobile, pero when we tried testing the unit – dun pa lang nagloko na so di ko na tinuloy since I knew about the bad reviews.

  35. i love my phone its so durable i hat cherry mobile buwisit yun

  37. MyPhone INFINITY rockz!
