Apple to release a 128GB version of new iPad

Apple has recently released the fifth Beta version of their upcoming iOS 6.1 to certified iOS developers. But unlike the previous releases, this iteration has something big in store for iOS users besides the typical OS improvements and bug fixes.

SystemPartitionPadding

What you’re looking at is the SystemPartitionPadding key of the iOS 6.1 Beta 5 which represents the device’s storage capacity. Surprisingly, the first entry on the list is 128GB which is twice as big as the company’s highest offering (64GB).

If there’s any truth to this allegation, then the next iPad will be available in 128GB variant in addition to the usual storage capacity (16, 32 and 64) models. Is this enough to put pressure on its competition, what do you guys think?

pards, tignan mo nga yung website ng apple para sa mga presyo nila.

    from 32gb to 64gb, +$100 lang din for a 32gb increase.

malamang from 64gb to 128gb, +$100 lang din yan pero 64gb increase.

it’s every doubling (multiplication) of capacity, not every additional 8/16gb (addition).

bili ka na lang ng android, mukhang maraming innovation don.

Selling cheap flash storage at ridiculously high prices (100$ for every 8/16GB increase) : Innovation.

and yet dahil walang 5″ or 6″ phones ang apple, hindi na sila marunong mag-innovate. and yet dahil nauna sa 7″ tablets ang ibang kumpanya, gaya-gaya na ang apple dahil nag-8″ tablet sila.

    I meant “iPhone 5S”… hehehe

  6. Avatar for Ghosthunter Ghosthunter says:

Apple would take this opportunity to name this device iPhone 4S with no other hardware improves besides the storage capacity upgrade.

Knowing Apple, I’m guessing this will be insanely expensive to the point of being ridiculous like the iPhone 5.

tsong, wag ka na lang mag-comment kasi wala ka namang alam sa apple tsong.

for wifi models, $499 ang 16gb ipad, $599 for 32gb, $699 for 64gb, so malamang $799 for 128gb. from 16gb, you add only 60% to your cost to have 700% more capacity. from 64gb, you add only 14% to your cost to have 100% more capacity. oo, mahal para sa mga maliit ang suweldo. e di huwag bilhin. ano ba ang mahirap maintidihan don?

fyi, yang iphone 5 is $649 for 16gb hanggang $849 for 64gb so tama ka, mahal talaga ang iphone kasi may “premium” dahil maliit siya. pero hindi katulad ng ipad.
