Fresh New Look

This has long been overdue but we’ve finally managed to move to our new site design after over a year of planning and coordination.

This includes a slight change in the logo with a flat two-color theme (which we’ve actually been using for over a year in calling cards and several collaterals).

The layout is not yet completely finished so there will be a bit of changes in the coming days as we iron out the kinks and optimize the layout. You should also see a more streamlined mobile version. Some links in the navigation are not yet working but we should be 95% complete by this week-end.

NOT A FAN of the new layout/design of Yugatech. I like the previous (simpler) layout better. I used to check both Yugatech and Unbox.PH everyday, but since the redesign, i barely check Yugatech anymore, probably once a week nalang at most. The new design turns me off because it’s so complicated, harder to navigate and THERE’S SO MUCH CLUTTER! ANG KALAT KALAT tingnan! This makes me so sad and frustrated because this used to be my favorite tech blog, but now…..

  2. waitingforgold says:

    yugatech + Ads = yugaMess

    • Ace says:

I TOTALLY AGREE!!! ANG KALAT KALAT TINGNAN DIBA?? YugaMESS nga ang nangyari. :((

  3. Dude says:

Then again, wala naman kaming magagawa dyan as readers. :(

    • Ace says:

where is the topic’s badge that shows the number of comments. As a reader, one that piques my interest before opening a particular topic is the number of comment it gets.

Sometimes, reading comments is more interesting than the topic per se and we cannot deny on occasion the fact that we find ourselves amused with those unwarranted retort among irrational readers exchanging recriminations. I couldn’t help but laugh and frown on.

  5. Jayson Gumanid says:

    kudos!!!

  6. Kenneth says:

  7. deuts says:

Finally a new look! And now it’s using a wider screen. Thank you Yugatech. Congrats! :D

  8. Nemo says:

Yun sponsors sa right side sagabal PA rin

  9. Joe says:

At least it’s mobile friendly now.

  10. www.kusina101.com says:

your floating ads on mobile is so irritating. cant even close it. you should consider placing it somewhere else or totally delete it.

  11. cluttered says:

CLUTTERED.

  12. Daniel Escasa says:

Milhouse, the site asked me to choose a login ID, chose Google Plus – if that’s not obvious :)

Good job on making the site more mobile-friendly, although posting this comment broke it slightly – the comment box is too wide, and messes up the display so it scrolls horizontally. Fixed that by zooming out. A future update should fix that, although it’s not *that* big of an issue

  13. Milhouse says:

How about changing your comments section to DISQUS or a message board where users can use their FACEBOOK account?

  14. Mikoy says:

    Congrats yugatech!

  15. Mikoy says:

    Congrats yugatech!!! ????????????

  16. Krung Kring says:

Magulo ang lay-out. Mas ok yung old design..simple, madali mahanap mga topics, etc. Now..sabog lahat

  17. tigidong says:

    • tigidong says:

oh! pati yung commenter’s name (or alias, whatever you call it), nagiging CAPITAL LETTERS lahat kahit naka small letters nung tinype?

  18. Jerome says:

I’m on mobile and find it awesome. Congrats!

  19. Robin says:

    almost similar to Unbox

  20. lol says:

i’m gonna miss your simple blog layout, but cheers for moving forward to a proper website layout

  21. Reader says:

Finally, a YT layout compatible with mobile devices. You still need to fix the design more because it looks cluttered iMO, but good job so far.

  22. Jackpot says:

Very cluttered. I don’t know where to look first.

  23. mackyangeles says:

Originality? Sooooooooooo The Verge. Nice one YugaTech :|

    • Nagmamagaling says:

In the blog owners’ defense, you really can’t blame them for having a site somehow identical to another site specially a very well known international website. Both YugaTech, PinoyScreencast and even Unbox use the WordPress blogging platform to run their blogs like thousands if not millions of other websites.

YugaTech uses a paid WordPress theme called NewsCore ($58/795 Sales) which may have been based on The Verge while PSC uses a theme called Engine ($63/778 Sales) which may have been based on Android Authority. And since these themes were bought from an online theme store, it’s inevitable that these sites will have a lot of look-alikes and by a lot, I mean hundreds if not thousands.

You can never have a unique/original-looking blog unless you pay someone to develop your WordPress theme for you which could be very expensive as it will require days, weeks and even months of coding to perfect your very own WordPress theme. This could cost you up to tens of thousands of Pesos. Compared to just buying a ready made theme for less than $100 dollars, you really can’t blame YugaTech for going this route. Of course you could also make your own theme if you have the skills. Now, it’s up to YugaTech to tweak and edit their chosen theme to make it more unique and original.

My only wish is that Yugatech would minimize their use of annoying advertisements. :D

    • klky says:

    • victor says:

Nadali mo sir hawig na hawig ng The Verge.

  24. grumphus says:

Bit cluttered but definitely much better than the old design. Words great on Microsoft Edge too complete with Reading Mode support.

  25. abcde says:

    nice layout, but it’s laggy…

  26. Ian says:

The new look is awesome! congrats Yuga!

  27. Alvin Leveriza says:

sorry abe, this layout looks cluttered for me. the ads you have on your site look so similar to the actual content.

  28. hello says:

personally, di ko gusto. masyadongmagulo at crowded. Mas gusto ko yung simpleng blog style dati.

  29. Micael Angeles says:

Finally, your site definitely needs the update :)
