Google announced new features for the Google Photos app including some that utilize AI.
When you open a photo in the Google Photos app, you may start to see suggestions to brighten, archive, share, or rotate your photos, right on the image. This makes it easier for you to automatically edit a photo with a single tap.

There’s also the color pop feature which automatically keeps the subject of your photo in color, and changes the background to black and white.

Google Photos can also use AI to automatically colorize old black-and-white photos, as well as recognize images of documents and convert them to PDF files.
Google also announced a new API for developers that work with Google Photos services, allowing them to utilize the following features:
- Find photos based on (content, date, description, media format)
- Upload directly to a user’s photo library
- Organize Albums that can add titles and locations
- Use shared albums to transfer and collaborate with other users
The Google Photos app is already available for Android and iOS. Date of the rollout of the said features is not yet specified.
