Instagram to have messaging functionality

There’s been a rumor circulating around the web recently regarding Instagram and the company’s alleged plan of adding messaging feature to the popular photo/video sharing platform.

According to a “well-placed source” that fessed up to GIGAOM, Instagram will gain a slew of additional functionalities on the upcoming update including group and private messaging.

The exact date of the said upgrade is still uncertain, but the informant claims that it will be rolled out before the end of this year.
