Apple has released the public beta for iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4, giving us a glimpse of what the new update has to offer once it becomes fully released to regular users.
According to MacRumors, the new update will bring Face ID with mask, which solves the issue of having to take off your face mask when you need to unlock your Face ID-equipped iOS device. Face ID will use the area around the eyes to authenticate and unlock, however, Apple still recommends using full Face ID for better security. The new feature is said to be limited to the iPhone 12 and newer.
Another feature is Universal Control, which allows you to use a single cursor and keyboard to control the Macs and iPad signed into your iCloud account. For example, you have a MacBook (Monterey 12.3) and an iPad (iPadOS 15.4) side by side, you’d be able to use the former’s trackpad and keyboard on the latter’s screen.
Emojis get an upgrade as well and now have new ones like melting face, saluting face, lip-biting emoji, hands over face emoji, and heart hands to name a few.
There are more features to be discovered, and we’ll soon experience them once the update rolls out.
