Be cautious with what you download online: A phishing app disguised as ‘Free Facebook’ app makes the rounds off several well-known local groups, phishing your information and account in the process.
Disguised as a ‘Facebook’ app, with the premise of having free access for those who cannot afford to do so, has been seen floating around several groups since last week. The app is presumed to have a keylogger as it automatically changes your password as soon as you log on from the app. We’ve seen it on several device support groups as of the late, and it seems anyone can use the app just by logging into this as an admin.
This is a warning to be cautious with what you download especially via unknown sources — it’s best to stick to the well-known apk sites such as APKmirror, or better yet support the developers by purchasing and downloading the app directly from the Google Play Store. It’s also best to enable two-factor authentication on Facebook to avoid account mishaps.
