Crime reporting goes digital: In an effort to optimize the use of current technology, the Philippine National Police and the University of the Cordilleras has recently launched its Bantay Krimen Mobile app as part of its ‘Lambat Sibat’ program.
The Bantay Krimen Mobile Application is a community-based tool in promoting crime awareness, reporting, and prevention at the tip of everyone’s fingertips with the use of their handheld Personal Digital Assistant (PDAs – cellphone or tablet) gadgets. The app will require GPS notification, and will alert you via a notification when entering crime hotspot areas.
The app also has features including a direct call to the nearest police station, crime incident information and dashboard, and the ability to report crimes. Future updates will include device synchronizing, media upload, mobile unit GPS tracking, a report ticketing system, and a space for user suggestions.
The said app is also maintained by the police force’s Information Technology Management Service division, which had its website revamped recently to provide more services both to the armed forces and the concerned public with a chat system, multiple translation options and layout responsiveness to adapt to a wide range of devices.
PNP’s Bantay Krimen mobile app is now available at the Google Play Store. Click here 30 to check it out.
