According to SamMobile Samsung’s current flag bearer, the Galaxy S4, as well as its predecessor is going to get a firmware update this October; bringing its OS version to Android 4.3 and is said to bring a few enhancements to these devices.
Moreover, the website claims that the Galaxy Note 2 will also get the same treatment, but at later time which they estimated to be around November or early December. Other candidates that are said to receive the updates are the two handsets (Mega 5.8 & 6.3) under Galaxy Mega lineup.
Of course, as you might expect, the roll out date may vary from region-to-region and from telco-to-telco. As such, it’s best to not get our hopes too high and just let it take its course.

This is great news. All Android devices lag in time. The reason why the Android 4.3 update matters is because of the “TRIM” support that frees up memory and decreases IO lag (sort of fragmentation) that happens in devices with NAND flash memory. Check this link for more details: http://pocketnow.com/2013/08/06/android-trim-support

They even said the Galaxy S3 would get the 4.2 update. Guess what? I’m still running 4.1.
Adrian says:
di siguro ganun kalaki yung impact ng 4.1 to 4.2 kaya rekta 4.3 na agad :)
note2 says:
Think Sammie decided to skip deployment of 4.2 in their devices opting to go directly to 4.3. Not sure though about their logic for doing this.

Good luck if it ever comes on time. I have given up on Sammy for my android smartphones and tablets. I used to get their flagship phones and tablets but always end up feeling frustrated that updates are slow to come. From now on I am sticking to Google Nexus. It is my choice.

The thing is, they’re not very prompt. When they set a specific month, it means you’ll get it about 2-3 months later.
