UberX to get fixed fares in Manila starting October 12

Great news Uber riders! You’ll now get to enjoy the perks of UberPool‘s fixed fares to your destination on UberX.

Starting October 12, all Uber riders who’ll opt for UberX will have fixed fares or Upfront Fares as the company calls it. This means you won’t have just an estimate of your fare when booking but rather a definite amount of the total fare upon drop-off.

Like your usual UberX ride, Uber will automatically calculate the expected time and distance plus the traffic situation and driver availability when you’re booking. It even includes toll fees, as per FAQs on Uber’s website. You won’t be seeing Surge notifications anymore as the Upfront Fares already includes all the factors that’ll affect your trip, including demand. It’s about the same how Grab offers fixed fares for Grab Car when booking.

If you’ll have extra stops for your UberX, you’ll be charged with the original time and distance rates  as it affects the calculation of your trip. You may read more about it through the source link below.

  1. In others words, Grabcar na din sila. So that’s why they’ve been padding the UberPool rates for the past couple of weeks. Grabcar and Uber are the new Globe and Smart tsk tsk.

  2. This is a welcome news to people who would rather know upfront the exact fares they will be paying. One thing that Uber needs to improve on is their search location capability. The location shown during search is not specific & detailed enough to guide the driver on the exact pick-up & drop-off point. This is where they are inferior compared to their current competitor. Hope somebody from their end reads this & do something to improve it.

  3. Palpak talaga GPS ng Uber. Parang nakikipagtaguan lagi.
