Amazon adding monthly subscription fee for Alexa soon

Amazon is adding a monthly subscription fee for Alexa soon. The AI-powered assistant is set to get major updates by August 2024.

Alexa will feature advanced features with the added subscription fee. Amazon Prime members will need to pay an extra 5-10 dollars (PHP 300-600) per month for this.

The premium tier offers a range of functions slated to make Alexa smarter and useful. So, what’s new with the updated version?

The new Alexa can give personalized advice for things like online shopping or exploring art. Users also don’t have to keep repeating the word “Alexa” per command.

Alexa can now handle multiple tasks simultaneously, such as writing emails and ordering takeaway for dinner.

In addition, the program can now learn your habits and routines. Basically, Alexa takes notes if you have a habit of turning on the air conditioner at a certain time.

For readers and users who don’t want to pay for the new service, Amazon is still making the free version available. Alexa will still come with the new generative AI features even if users aren’t subscribed.

Amazon’s update to Alexa is the result of the growing AI assistant market. With competitors like Google, Microsoft, and Apple—offering a free and premium tier for this service helps the company stay on top.

It has yet to launch, but we’ll give readers an update by August 2024. What do you guys think of the monthly subscription fee for Alexa? Share your thoughts below!
