With PLDT’s recent Super Saver Line promo, can the Philippines stand to claim the cheapest internet service in the whole of south-east asia? Bundled with a fixed landline, PLDT’s Vibe promo comes out as low as Php160 per month (roughly $3/month).
I’m not sure about broadband (Singapore & Hong Kong still rules the arena of big bandwidth pipes) though.
Remember that just about 5 years ago, a DDU (dedicated dial-up) account could cost you as much as Php3,500 a month. At that price now, you can hook up with PLDT or Globe and get as much as 2Mbps of broadband connection.
At Php160, the internet prepaid card industry will soon eventually be a thing of the past.

I’m currently with Krytech. Although they offer great rates and plans, i have had numerous amounts of server drop-outs. For instance yesterday mid-morning the server dropped out and is still unavailable today. This happens on a regular basis, mostly during the wkends.
Result being that if they do not provide a better service from now on then i will be forced to change to another ISP.

that’s great! i only hope that this service by pldt doesn’t have the same connectivity bugs as do their dsl services because since this new promo is targeted to residential customers and i’ve noticed that those who bewail the loss of connection for days on end are mostly residential subscribers.
I can’t help but think that pldt prefers to have business-oriented subscribers since I hear very few service interruption complaints from them. Unless I’m mistaken of course. ;)

Whew! that’s a good news!
