Globe claims 100% 3G coverage, 4G/LTE in 3 months

Yesterday, Globe Telecom boasted the fruition of their recent efforts (not to mention investments) in expanding their network’s reach in the country. In the press conference, Globe President Ernest Cu stated that the Ayala-led telco now has 100% coverage for 3G and is looking to do the same feat for 4G/LTE in the next 90 days.

According Ernest Cu, Globe Telecoms will be spending up to USD200 million, or a third of the telco’s 2014 capital expenditure budget (USD600 – 650 millon) this year for the modernization of their network infrastructure.

Globe’s network upgrades this year involve laying out additional fiber optic cables spanning to 9400 kilometers, and increasing the number of cell sites in the country, which is expected to reach at least 6500 by the end of the year, 700 of which are 4G/LTE cell sites.

“Our transformation journey does not end with the 3G and 4G technologies. We will continue to improve our network’s infrastructure to accommodate our customers’ fast-paced digital lifestyle needs,”

– Ernest Cu, CEO of Globe Telecoms

In line with his statement above, Cu mentioned that Globe plans to allot roughly the same amount of money (USD100 – 200 million) next year to fuel the telco’s effort to further enhance the service through network upgrades.

  1. I hope they mean all the islands here that are stuck with poor signal or little 3G , those areas really need LTE

  2. I noticed that they are not actually improving 4G-LTE but 4G-HSPA+ … And HSPA+ is not part of true 4G…

    • Actually better. H+ ng Globe is 6-8mbps sa good spots without draining the battery too much.

Prefer ko better H+ speeds than actual LTE. Ano ba meron sa obsession sa LTE?

Mas ok parin for now coverage ng Smart pero pagod na ako sa bullshit nila. Too much bullshiting lalo na sa postpaid na walang contract.

  3. Not true. We only have EDGE here in San Roque, Northern Samar

  4. Waka waka lang yan, globe mabilis maningil

  5. In 3 months, Globe is promising what Smart has already done 3+ months ago. Pfft!

  6. Pathetic Globe! There is no 3G signal in my mom’s place in Tiaong, Quezon. To think that she lives just along a major highway. Maybe you’re dreaming when you said you have 100% 3G coverage. Duh! Wake up and atop lying?

  7. hahahahaha, 100% spam coverage 24/7… powtang kompanya!

  8. Really? I just went to Binan Laguna last Sunday and I wasn’t able to connect to any data network at all.

  9. Not true. I use my data on major roads and places in the metro. While there is an LTE or 3G icon, I guess it only works 70% of the time. Parts of edsa has horrible data service. I hear smart has better and stable data coverage. If only all my contacts switch , I would too.

  10. Un their dreams.. Carmona Cavite walang 3G puro edge lang bwahahaha tatapusin knlng contract ko until may diko na ito renew walang kwneta ang postpaid ng globe! !!
