Globe Telecom has announced that it has deployed additional 500 sites using 2600 MHz frequency in Visayas and Mindanao to improve mobile internet for customers.
The 2600MHz frequency is one of the spectrum assets (aside from 700MHz) that Globe has acquired following the joint buyout of San Miguel Corp.’s telecommunications assets. Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Governance, Network Technical Group, said that the deployment of said spectrum provides additional data capacity through the Carrier Aggregation technology with other LTE frequencies.
“This will give customers faster data speed capabilities to serve growing demand for bandwidth. With 500 sites already activated, our customers in Visayas and Mindanao will be experience faster internet service and the reliability that this band provides,” Agustin said.
YugaTech.com is the largest and longest-running technology site in the Philippines. Originally established in October 2002, the site was transformed into a full-fledged technology platform in 2005.

Old subscriber. 2mbps plan. 5GB/day limit. Ayos na to.
Paklay says:
Did they really fire up 500 new ones? From what I read here…
http://newsroom.globe.com.ph/press-release/sustainability-digital-nation/globe-customers-vismin-now-enjoy-additional-data-capac-0
… 500 na lahat in total.

chief gato says:
“This will give customers faster data speed capabilities to serve growing demand for bandwidth” at a higher plan. ;)
globe now offers 3mbps plan, 1299php, 50GB data cap.
these ISPs can make a deal with netflix.
1000php/month 10mbps, unlimited + 499php per month for netflix.
PukeMaster says:
Acutally, they’re already rolling out their 15 Mbps plan for P1,599 with 150 GB data allowance. call them asap :)
