Been getting a number of emails/reports that Globe Telecom users are having a hard time connecting to the network. The problem seemed to have started since this morning and complaints are still pouring in ’til now.
Globe Telecom posted this advisory several hours ago on their FB page:
ADVISORY: Globe Telecom experienced a service interruption covering selected areas in Visayas and Mindanao due to a fiber cut. As a result, subscribers may experience difficulty in sending text messages, making calls or using mobile internet in these areas.
Globe assures its subscribers that service restoration is ongoing. Subscribers will be informed as soon as service is back to normal.
Here’s a copy of the full media advisory:
Two of my Globe numbers are working (on and off the whole day) and one of my Touch Mobile number cannot get any network signal all afternoon. Globe did not give an ETA when all systems will be fully restored (though they expect it to be done this evening).
The damaged fiber was due to the recent typhoon Bebeng and some of it were undersea so repairs are a little slow and tedious. Globe appeals for a little patience and understanding as they continue with repairs and restoration of services.
Will get more detailed information from Globe and post updates here. Update: Globe has restored network just a few moments ago.

I received a text from Globe 5 hours ago: â€As a valued customer, Globe is sending you FREE texts and call minutes within the next few days. This is our way of saying “thank you†for being with Globe and our way of making up for the May 9 service interruption. Globe will send you a text no later than May 17 as soon as this special service is available for your use. This is to show that you are truly important to us.â€

Dapat lang.

This is the reason why more people are choosing Smart. Case in point: Ondoy. All Globe network coverage are down in Metro Manila. Smart is still standing. Ondoy victims used Smart cellphones in roving vans to tell their loved ones that they are alive. I know. I was there.
Globe Telecom officials, stop being cry babies and just improve your service. iPhones are not the answer.
MrOrange says:
One thing I have as comment to this. Undersea cables are usualy over 10 meter underground and underwater. so unless that’s a very big ship or the cable was pulled from above ground would be the only way to snap the cable, which isn’t small. usually it’s a 2-4 meter wide tube.
roland says:
yan ang gusto ko sa GLOBE nagaannounce. ung SMART magugulat ka na lang wala ka na connection kasi may activity sa base station ang masaklap pa nito.. it will take a month bago marestore… hayz
jayb says:
even here in Baguio and La Union. . Late ang messages grabe mahigit 2 hours bago ma receive. . but now it’s okay. . loyal parin sa Globe
adam says:
Thats bad buti na lang hindi gaanon naapektuhan ang manila subscribers.
arj says:
been using globe, too. i’ve no problems with signals. at least, they can inform you their reasons about their temperamental signals compared to other telecos that gives you no reason at all
Steve Jobs says:
Di ako nagka problem sa Globe Postpaid ko ever since.
Faith@ahead says:
doesn’t globe usually have service interruptions every now and then? sometimes, I cannot reload, because of “service delay”…
John Alvero says:
What can you expect? it’s Globe of course its off-line.
EdwinC says:
Yes, it’s back. I can browse now unlike yesterday I thought something’s wrong with my router I was about to smash it to smithereens.
mr. bogus says:

100pesos kanain nung may 2, 2011 hindi na naibalik!!!!!
arj says:
lucky for you. ako nga e prepaid card na 300, mawawala pagkatapos ng isang text message send. bigyan ka ng notice na load pero wala namang binalik. it’s false reassurance.
EvilTwin says:
Wonder why it always happens to Globe and yet you don’t hear it happening to SUN or SMART.
I lost my signal last 26 MAR. They made me wait until yesterday to tell me that I had to change my SIM.
Now, my Globe dsl at home is dead…Customer service says its because of the weather…Yeah, right!
It seems a change of service is due…
MRU says:
Globe’s service has been erratic (to say the least) these past few weeks, not just yesterday or the day before. People in my office and house are all on Globe and the service really needs improving ASAP.
aaa says:
Thumbs up if you think that Smart has sabotaged Globe’s fiber cables!
David Z says:
Why anyone would entertain such thoughts is beyond me. Unless joke yan, siguro.
aaa says:
i am just joking.
anyway, back to the real deal, i guessthat globe is suffering from network outages because of the typhoon that struck recently.
chinitoguy says:
I hope Globe would fix the problem ASAP. Wala naman problem ang Globe dito sa Pasig City.
Andrew says:
Hindi pa 100% up si Globe ngayon. Call&Text pa lang ang working. WiMax, DSL, Tattoo is still down.
benchmark says:
Hmmm didn’t experience any problem with Globe this day…I even made a call, nothing wrong…hmmm maybe once or twice…I got disconnected, but thats it. :) lucky me?
