A poster given to one of the existing Globe Platinum Home Broadband confirms our earlier information about Globe’s planned upgrade of the 50Mbps fiber line to just Php2,499USD 43INR 3,610EUR 41CNY 310. The poster below showed a discounted 50Mbps line to Php2,499USD 43INR 3,610EUR 41CNY 310 from Php4,999USD 85INR 7,222EUR 81CNY 620 for the first 12 months with a 24-month lock-in.
The one that is planned for October 24 as stated in the leaked documents we acquired looks like it will be a permanent upgrade to all new and existing Platinum subscribers.
Yesterday, we reported that the starting plan for fiber connection will be 50Mbps for a monthly subscription fee of Php2,499USD 43INR 3,610EUR 41CNY 310 and goes all the way up to 1Gbps for Php9,499USD 162INR 13,722EUR 154CNY 1,179 (November availability).
The poster also indicated a 5Mbps minimum speed at 80% reliability.
This move is likely Globe’s response to the ranking reports of broadband speeds in Asia. We also note that only selected areas are affected by this increase due to the limited availability of their fiber network that has the capacity to deliver up to 1Gbps. Older lines that still run on copper wires will remain with the old subscription plans.

But as usual, only to a select few in Manila, outside Manila does not count, as all the managers and owners are crowded in these exclusive estates.

Good thing PLDT Fibr’s coverage is wider and we have it in our area. Hopefully mag compete din ang pldt sa mga gantong speeds para makapag upgrade na ng plan
rabbitkun says:
wtf for the first 12 months lang yung 2,499 tapos 4,999 na after :|
pol says:
how long is the lock in period?
so if ever 24 months lock in. yung 1 yr lang ang 2500php. then yung susunod 5k na. meeeh.
Ralph Jay says:
Okay na sana eh kaso gumaya pa sa Comcast ng USA. The first 12 months will be discounted then after 12 months it will be increased to regular price with 24 months lock-in period. Ganitong ganito ang pricing scheme ng Comcast nung nandun pa ako sa US at nakakairitang tumawag every year para lang humanap ng bagong promo dahil di pwede mag downgrade dun sa 2nd half ng contract or else babayad ka ng termination fee. Pag tiyagaan ko nalang muna yung PLDT Fibr kahit medyo pricey then let’s see if the incoming Telstra can compete.
Abby (@jesuisabby) says:
Kung discounted price na lang forever if you sign up in November, it will be very enticing.
Isipin nyo, limited areas na nga lang and 5mbps lang ang guarantee. So anyone who would sign up with you will take a huge risk.
