A couple of days ago, Globe postpaid and prepaid subscribers have been experiencing problems making calls and sending text messages across the Metro. Globe then issued a statement explaining that the disruption was caused by a connectivity issue within their network systems.
Globe has been trying to restore its services to normal and in recompense, will be offering rebates to affected postpaid and prepaid customers.
Here’s the official statement:
Temporary disruption in South Manila last September 1
Last Saturday, September 1, 2012, we monitored subscribers having difficulty in making and receiving calls while they are in identified areas in Southern Manila, particularly Las Pinas, Paranaque, Muntinlupa, and Taguig. The temporary disruption was caused by a connectivity issue within our network systems.
By Sunday evening, September 2, 2012, we were able to restore call services partially, as certain affected areas have already reported service improvements. We wish to assure our subscribers that Globe is continuously working 24-7 to make sure call services in the remaining affected areas are fully restored as soon as possible.
As of today, this issue has been corrected and services are back to normal.
Globe is prepared to offer rebates to affected postpaid and prepaid customers. We will notify affected customers with details on the customer rebate through SMS.
We deeply apologize to our affected subscribers for the inconvenience. Thank you.

If you’re one of those affected by the disruption, do drop us a comment on how your rebates are coming.
Note: We remember back in May 9, 2011, Globe also had a network disruption which prompted them to give back rebates to affected customers {see story here}.

I’ve been experiencing network issues for atleast 4 months now. I’m a postpaid subscriber located in Makati. The most disappointing for me is the internet service for my phone, I’m using blackberry and subscribed to BIS.

Rory Jimenez says:
Shouldn’t Globe just do an across the board rebate for the “technical” glitch?
I live in the affected area but my billing address is in Ortigas Center. I’m just wondering how they are going to go about the rebate.

Jameson says:
I really have a hard time calling Smart numbers, I’m on postpaid plan and I had this for almost 10 years already. It’s really tempting to switch.

Thats it. Nakakapagod na itong globe na ito. Magpaputol na ako n ako ng broadband plan ko mamaya.
Erik says:
My problems with Gobe.
1. Dropped calls – major problem
2. Weak signals even at ayala malls???
3. I normally have to dial twice to call pldt landlines.
4. 3G really bad everywhere.
5. A few wrong numbers, crosslines.
The only thing preventing me from leaving is that 90% of people I call are on Globe.
I have gotten texts that cell sites near me are under modernization but even after that I see no improvement. Think it all BS PR.

Globe should recognize that the network problem we, their subscribers, are experiencing is not limited to one area but the whole country. I, for one, have experienced problems in Laguna and Bulacan areas. They should extend their rebate programs to all subscribers.
