Earlier this week, Globe Telecom had a press conference announcing their own version of Tattoo LTE service which will go live this September.
However, the PR did not really have any concrete information regarding the exact date, plan, pricing and speed so we went back and asked more questions.
There is no exact date as to the launch except that it will be this September. This could mean preparations are still under way so expect the final date to be much closer to the end of the month.
While they did not say what type of plan and pricing, the folks from Globe Social Media stated the promised speed is up to 42Mbps and not the theoretical 100Mbps that LTE is capable.
What’s so special with the 42Mbps? Well, the LTE dongle that they will probably be using is the Huawei E392 which has a maximum speed of 42Mbps (so it’s really a hardware limitation).
I’ve also been told that the $700PHP 41,080INR 59,325EUR 667CNY 5,095 million network modernization program is actually just 50% completed so this doesn’t mean that all those recent network problems we’ve been experiencing will be resolved anytime soon.
We’ll update you once we get more concrete details.

Eh yung wimax 2mbps nga nila di nila kayang ayusin, yung LTE pa kaya. Tssss
Ramon says:
I like smart a little better (stronger signal at my area), but I really do hope globe improves their current network and provides a better LTE service
We need more competition between the network providers @-@ it already feels that they don’t care about the customers or the services they should provide -_-
Michael Jacob says:
I would hope it is not capped. Coz paying for 3.5k a month with 10gb cap would be stupid and people who would only pay that are stupid jerks. Sorry.
So I really would hope globe would make it cheap and truly unlimited. Bow.
flitzoffthehook says:
42mbps kuno.. Malamang may cap din yan, so useless. Buset!
Doobie says:
ano un tool na gamit nya?
globe hater says:
Boo! I hate globe when it comes to network fixing problem. Masyadong matagal
theSandies says:
true… GLOBE!! LIAR!! LIAR!!!
kerokeropi says:
UNLIMITED WITH 20GB DATA CAP.. TOTALLY GLOBE SERVICE. FOOLING A LOT OF CONSUMER. CAN THEY BE SUED THIS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.
huh says:
Just like smart i bet they only offer it in a few locations and thats it while boasting about how great it is or how fast it is. I bet it will never reach 42Mbps or even close…
Yuja says:
I was able to use their service few years ago and im disappointed. I’m not sure how it is working these days but im still negative about it. Downtime, Customer Service…Sux
jAyR2684 says:
I’m more concern about this
“I’ve also been told that the $700 million network modernization program is actually just 50% completed so this doesn’t mean that all those recent network problems we’ve been experiencing will be resolved anytime soon.”
It is better fix their basic (reception,3G,etc) services than any extra services like LTE.
Justin23 says:
Weeehhh nakiki sabay lang yan sa Smart, naunahan kasi cla ng Smart, honestly Gusto ko mag Globe before kaso dito sa bahay namin walang signal sa ang globe sa loob WTF, and with smart’s Network Modernization naramdaman ko talaga ung dating less than 1mbps nila sa Mobile internet umaabot na ng 3-4mbps ngaun. Im using iPhone 4S. Imagine 50% plng ang Network Modernization nila while Smart just Finished it last Month. Ugh
Kit Santiago says:
sir yuga ano po mas mabilis, Huawei E587 or E392? thank you po!
Tabbymon says:
Well, I agree with some of you. Globe should first focus on their modernization and the strength of their network. Kahit dito sa Laguna, medyo mahina Globe sa ibang lugar. Kung di pa nila kaya ayusin network (especially, the coverage), well, what if kung maipapatupad na agad ‘tong LTE service nila? Then they’ll focus less on their other netowrk services. But just to be honest, I’m looking forward to this LTE thing of Globe. Just wishing that they can finish their other projects first.
Kit Santiago says:
sir yuga, available na po ba ang Huawei E392 dito sa Phil.? as of now diba po yung last na nireview nyo is E587 palang. thanks po!
jaybee says:
hayz. . dito sa Baguio(center of education in the entire Northern Luzon), mabagal ang 3g internet. lalo na sa New lucban 24/7 so slow.
huhu
itachi1 says:
Unlike the other network who’s making all the noises and negative commercials about their competitor, Globe is hush-hush about some details of their modernization. IMHO, gugulatin na lang tayo lahat nito once their modernization is complete. Oh, and those network issues we’re experiencing, that is expected ’cause they’re not just upgrading their cell sites, they’re changing the entire tower…
i9 says:
