San Miguel Corporation has recently sold its telecommunications assets to PLDT and Globe which includes the much-coveted 700MHz spectrum. If you’re wondering how it will improve the two giant telcos’ services, here’s what they have to say.
PLDT/Smart:
* Additional frequencies will significantly improve internet quality and coverage
* 700MHz frequency spans farther and wider than other frequencies
* Better indoor coverage
* Enables faster rollout in regional and rural areas
Globe:
* Improved indoor signal penetration for more stable data connectivity
* More bandwidth allocation per customer
* Wider reach
* More affordable rates
In summary, PLDT/Smart and Globe are saying the same things – the 700MHz frequency is the key to improve the mobile internet services running on 4G LTE. As for us consumers, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Wow.
c says:
CalebJosh says:
The issue for 700MHz is the capacity, yes it can go further and can reach more users but it can only accommodate certain number of data connections due to its limited capacity. Unless Smart and Globe will increase the number of cell sites accommodating the 700MHz connections then it is good. But as per current situation that is not the case, they cramp their subscriber to a cell site, thats why they are imposing cap and we usualy can’t the plan’s promised speed.
Lower frequency = better distance, low capacity/bandwidth
Higher frequency = better capacity/bandwidth, shorter distance
Rico Ambles says:
Ideally kasi, magkasama dapat yung higher at lower frequency na ide-deploy. Lower frequency as the umbrella frequency (or yung malaking area) tapos within it lalo na sa maraming users ay yung high frequency naman.

Choy Eloisa says:
more affordable rates does not mean lower rates.. gagawa lang kayo nang promo nanaman… 1piso/kilobyte.. affordable dahil piso lang pero taning mahal pag suma total..
pro to foreign investors says:
stop this nonsense… if you really want to improve your internet services… 1st step to make is to lift off your internet data capping… 2nd increase speed… 3rd justified price… think of wider coverage(buying infrastructures to let you have more consumers to fools) after those first three steps are done… stupid telcos…!
Joke joke joke says:
D mangyayari yang magiging cheaper and faster speed.

This is too good to be true.
wilson says:
full of marketing strategy.
u can save the consumer from buying a new phone. by just increasing the speed of 3g …. with the same package plan or price at happy na ako
HindiAkoIT says:

I get 1-2mb speed on downloads.. but get around 40mb on speedtest… in short… this doesnt help at all
Bogo Marvin Choi says:
Dami talaga ang OBOB. Walang alam sa bits and bytes tapos lakas pa mag reklamo
Capt Obvious says:
Clear?
kaks says:
people need also to upgrade devices supporting 700Mhz LTE..
