Installing Smart Bro & Globe Visibility on the same PC

The latest HSDPA 3G modem from Smart Bro and Globe Visibility were manufactured by ZTE in China. Both are practically plug-and-play devices. The problem is running both softwares (3G dialers) on the same PC.

Since the device are practically similar, the system sees the two as a single device thus overwriting each others system settings. The Smart Bro model is MF622 and the Globe Visibility is MF626, making the latter the much newer model.

smart globe

Incidentally, the newer device drivers from ZTE would not work with the older model used by Smart Bro. In fact, Globe Visibility takes over the Smart Bro installation folder in the Program Files.

In order for the Smart Bro HSDPA modem to work, one has to un-install the Globe Visibility software/drivers first. So, if you are using both, it’s a headache to switch from one service to another.

Was wondering if anyone out there has encountered this and was able to isolate the cause of the problem.

04/24/2011 PLS HELP!! E155 Crashes when plugged in to Windows 7 ultimate (laptop)

I have a Globe Tattoo HUAWEI model E155 driver installed in my laptop (OS Windows 7 Ultimate). It worked perfectly until I had someone configured the modem with Smart and Ultrasurf to have an unlimited web browsing..

It worked for about a week. I had no issues with it until yesterday when I was trying to install an aplication, “Connectify” (www.connectify.me).
I was able to download the application, clicked RUN and while installing it, I received an SMS thru my modem (Smart Buddy SIM) and all of a sudden, the display turned BLUE( says “crashing dump at the very bottom) and restarted my laptop..

At first, I thought it was my OS that crashed but it didn’t do the problem after restarting it until I connected the USB again.
Globe dashboard worked okay, detecting signal but when I click “CONNECT” it says:

    >opening port
    >authenticating
    > all device connected
    then it CRASHES again…

    I did several troubleshooting steps:
    1. uninstalled Globe broadband and Connectify
    2. Restarted my laptop
    3. Reinstalled Globe Huawei
    4. Restarted
    5. Tried to connect but did the same problem..

    Please help!

how will i unlock my smartbro modem mf622?its network locked…does anyone have software to unlock it?or can somebody give me a username and password for Dc unlocker?pls help me guys..

    • lia says:

      Before unlocking;

      a. My Smartbro dashboard is installed and modem drivers, typical installation for SmartBro to work/connects.

      b. Replace your Smartbro sim card (e.g. Globe or Sun SIM)

From one of the applications given to unlock MF627 is DC-Unlocker 2 Client v1.00.0460

      1. Download the file DC-Unlocker 2 Client (dccrap.zip)
      2. Unzip/Extract to any folder or to your desktop

Now Plug in your Smartbro modem with Globe or Sun SIM inserted on it.

      3. run the dccrap.exe
      4. Select Manufacturer = ZTE datacards
      5. click “server”
      6. Enter Username/Password of your choice then click “Check Login”.
For me, I enter smartbro for both userb=name and password
      7. Click on the the Magnify Glass icon to search your modem model automatically.
Dont need to Select model manually.

Just wait for the modem to sync, sometimes reading the datacard is slow.

      8. Once your modem has been detected, Click “Unlocking” then UNLOCK it.

You will be then prompted unlocking successful!

Now, Open your Smartbro dashboard, it takes a while to sync in the modem.

    • Samians says:

yah,, its activated as open line.

**but the modem is not detected anymore on my computer, only its dashboard detect itself,,

**How can i install the modem driver to other PC if it is not detected as USB or Modem in my computer??

      Please help!!

  29. lime says:

i’ll try the steps mentioned above later..i hope it will work…

  30. gambit says:

the speed of your internet will not only depend on your modem but also on some other factors as well. Location is a big consideration. another is your computer’s specs, setup and condition. Does it have enough memory for one? do you have many programs running during startup? is it virus and malware free? i’ve tried both visibility and smartbro and both works fine with me. i also hear sun is ok. if you want to use all three with no extra expense, get huawei of visibility. you can just request it to be unlocked remotely in some sites without the need of you going to unlockers who charge very high. the software is even free if you know where to look. so why burden yourself with the thought that you’ll lose more money? all you need is patience and determination. just be resourceful. there’s almost nothing impossible nowadays with the internet at your fingertips:) who knows? you might also learn how to use your modem for free internet….:)

Hey guys this is only for inspiration!

This really works! i have a globe visibility and a smartbro usb yung black.. and i try to use it at the same time. and it works.. magkaiba lang port ginamit.. but yung globe visibility ko eh useless na kasi bandless pa. so i try to use the smart sim also to my globe visibility. i also just found the setup here.. thanks to yugatech! but for sun di ko pa nasusubukan kung gagana yung usb ng visibility(white). I will try it kung meron setup nakapost para makaconnect ako sa sun. Meron na ba nakatry ng sun sa inyo? ok ba? kasi globe is a failure.. smart is fair enough.. i was thinking on using the sun here in makati, angono, sta.rosa laguna. dun kasi ako madalas sa mga spot na yun.
    goodluck to all.

take note: using globe visibility is a big risk! meron ako globe visibility and also wimax. wala ako napakinabangan.. its a waste of time and money for me. just check all my spot. kung dun kayo wag nyo na itry!

goodday i already try this setting hindi gumana sa Huawei E1552 na globe tatto error 619 pa rin help naman po.

    Instructions:
    1. Replace the Globe SIM with a Smart SIM.
    2. Plug the ZTE MF626. ( Better to use Globe’s USB Device since its not network locked, Smart’s Dark Night is. )
    3. Using the Modem Mobile Connection ( Dialer ) Go to Settings Icon ( the one with the screw driver ).
    4. Add a new connections setting, name it as Smart Bro.

By the way, here’s the configuration of both networks using the dialer:

    For Smart:

    Dial Number: *99#
APN: internet or smartbro ( internet is faster )

    For Globe:

    Dial Number: *99***1#
    APN: http.globe.com.ph

You don’t need any user name and password.

    5. Now go to Internet Icon ( Saturn Like Icon )
    6. Wait for it to initialize until you see the signal. Its your preference as well if you want to manually set the Network Settings.

Hi. I recently (9-02-2009) purchased a Globe Tattoo. I tried using it with my own Globe SIM card. The first time I used it, I encountered this “ERROR 619” about a port being shut for some reason, I goog1ed it forever but didn’t find any solution. After a few hours of tweaking and observing I found the solution, now I want to share it for other frustrated users as well. Using the Globe GUI (software), there was an option there (right in your face) to choose either Globe Prepaid or Globe Postpaid… it was easy to miss this option and simply click on “Connect”… my SIM was Postpaid, I chose this option, click Connect… and yeeeehhhhaaaa! I’m now typing this in the internet! :)

After reading all the blogs and comments for SMART, GLOBE and SUN I feel like I’m about to throw my Globe Visibility Huawei E160 out the window. Most of the good feedback are for SUN and it’s definitely because of the price. The thing is, it would be a waste to switch to SUN Huawei E220 especially since I purchased my modem at its original price of P2500. I was still in Davao then. My dilemma is this: Whether to “upgrade” to SUN and then just have the modem unlocked so that I can use it once I leave Manila or Stick to Globe E160 and then just have SUN config settings.

Fun Facts: Sorry, I don’t have the exact figures for some of them anymore, I’ll update it once I get back. This is via http://www.speed.io/index_en.html

Tried testing smartbro on my Globe Visibility with ZTE MF626. It worked… hindi nga nakalock yung ZTE MF626 sa Globe. I just used the settings posted by Mikee.

I have one request. Do you have settings for Sun Cellular? I would love to try it so when you go places you have a choice.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
I just recently availed of Sun’s Wireless broadband. its great for my metro-manila use, but still in development for a nationwide rollout.

I decided to manually unlock my e200 (with success) and tried out an extra globe prepaid sim i had (P30 on load). I placed the number and APN settings given above into a new profile i created with the sun branded dialer already installed on my machine.

It worked. though to my surprise, my Sun service was a LOT faster, even if I had only 1 bar compared to 5 bars with globe.

  79. Bondying says:

Tried to unlock Globe Visibility Huawei E220 and it was a success. The modem accepts any sim (globe, smart and sun but not the Red mobile it reports SMART ROAMING) when inserted. Test the all the sims (except Red Mobile) using the 3rd party software auto install of Globe Visibility.

TEXT – all sims okay (receives and sends)
Globe connect – ok but globe has still a problem
Sun connect – error 619 (APN problem) *99***#
SMART connect – error 619 (APN problem) *99#

Note: except Red Mobile did not do the test (walang load eh hehehehe)

Manual registration with network inside E220 using (Partner) was successful (all sims except red)

Guess i have to register the sun and smart sims for OTA internet to get the full service of the sims.

Will update this thread once i have register the other 2 sims for OTA.

    Here’s my simple solution:

I have a Smart Bro Huawei e226 3g modem and I open-line it using DC-Unlocker. Now I can put any sim card on to it (Globe, Sun, an other international carrier sim cards). This way, if I want to switch service, I only switch the sim cards instead of both hardware and drivers they use. The good thing with the on-board Huawei software is that you can set different profiles. So if you use Globe, you can set a new profile which corresponds to Globe’s browsing settings then save it for later use. Since I’m using Smart Bro, SmartBro profile is already set as default.

By the way, you can use normal sim cards for browsing. Just make sure that these sims (Globe, Smart, Sun) had their mms and browsing activated. Don’t get stuck with the bundled sim cards that Smart Bro and Globe are offering. In the case of Smart Bro Prepaid, the bundled sim can only send and receive sms and lacks call functionality.

Get your freedom! Unlocking your 3g modem is 100% legal. You’ve paid for it in the first place!

the only downside is that you need to pay an extra P 1,000.00 in order to unlock it using DC Unlocker. You also need a Credit Card to pay for it online. But considering the fact that you don’t have to buy another 3g modem which would cost around P 2,500.00, then it is practical to just unlock it!

    Good luck and happy browsing!

Mikee Taylo – hinhanapan ako ng password nung tinry ko ung settings na ginawa mo Instructions:

Its your preference as well if you want to manually set the Network Settings.

after ko ma add ung smart sa globe visibity ko.

    Hi Yuga,

    Got some comments.

I’ve installed 3 broadband modems from:
    Globe Visibility – Huawei e220
Sun Broadband Wireless – Huawei e220
    Globe Visibility – ZTE MF626

They all work ok. There is just one problem with ZTE modem (hassle ang ZTE)

Once you plug it in and disconnect it, you need to restart your computer before your computer can detect the modem again.

I found a little work around for this problem and maybe I can get inputs from you on this:

    http://cheftonio.blogspot.com/2009/01/zte-mf626-problem-review-and-solution.html

Do you have a better solution? It’s a hassle to have a USB flash disk in your USB slot just so you can use the ZTE mf626 without problems.

    thanks,

At last I was able to use Smart Bro on Globe Visibility’s MF626, I used Globe’s latest version of Modem Mobile Connection Software which is included in the USB. You don’t need to install Smart Bro’s Dialer.

    1. Replace the Globe SIM with a Smart SIM.
    2. Plug the ZTE MF626. ( Better to use Globe’s USB Device since its not network locked, Smart’s Dark Night is. )

Hello everyone. Does anyone here have the SMARTBRO softwares / drivers and also its configuration on connection settings (e.g. DIAL NUMBER, USERNAME(if supported), PASSWORD(if supported), APN) or if you could do a screenshot…that would be better.

I have acquired a prepaid GLOBE VISIBILITY KIT. And I’m planning to have smart work on this.

If anyone here have anything relevant on what I wrote above, please contact me via email..

Hindi lahat ng lugar may 3G Signal ang Globe, Smart o Sun. Kaya’t gamit ko itong tatlo.

Currently, I use a mobile phone to connect to these 3. Just recently, I purchased Globe’s MF626 Modem and it wont allow Smart or Sun simcards.

If bart’s claim is true, does anyone have the “settings” for smart or sun to share? Bart, are referring to “db.dat” file?

    Thanks!

  87. bart says:

the globe modem is not networked lock all you have to do is copy the settings of your smart bro add it to the dialer of the globe and to switch between the 2 all you have to do is swap the sim.

  88. Trojan Virus says:

You can use a USB SPLITTER. Done it and it’s working just fine ^_^V

Actually Smart Bro used a black ZTE MF 626 for its “Dark Knight Special Edition” Smart Bro Plug-It some time back.

  91. Bob Reyes says:

How about installing the drivers in two separate folders? If Smart & Globe will send me the modem units, I can test it myself ;)

  92. ikoi says:

@jepoy – that is a good idea, just like what you do with cellphones which are not openlines, the problem is where we could get a software to unlock/hack the modem…:-)

  93. jepoy says:

One solution is have one of the USB modems unlocked. Then just swap the SIM cards :D

  94. jhay says:

That’s the question! Which one is better, I keep on getting accounts of personal experience from readers on my blog.

So far, Globe Visibility has been getting good feedback.

I only had the chance to try Smart Bro plugit last July at DLSUD campus. It wasn’t a very good experience at all because the device couldn’t get a hold of a 3G/HSDPA signal and so the connection via GPRS was next to useless.

So for now, I’d say it’s location, location, location!

  95. Trojan Virus says:

SmartBro on USB1 and Globe Visibility on USB2!

    :)

NOTE: you can’t use both providers in one but you can switch it. however, don’t put globe visibility on USB1 if smartbro is installed on USB1. They should be installed on different ports.

  96. Men says:

Hey yuga, im planning to buy one of them, but i want to know which is better. I know that they’re your ads, but could you make some reviews about this

  97. Men says:

  98. Peter One says:

Which one do you think is faster between the two modems, is it smart plugit or Globe Visibility?

  99. Female Celeb says:

    @abe,

I think its not possible to run both device at the same time or you cant switch to any of both because of the conflict.. it would be advisable to uninstall or just rename the Program file folder of the device you intended not to use…

anyway can you have a review of both device? which is better? smart bro plugit or Globe Visibility?

    thanks!

  100. Aldrin says:
