Andre Marcelo-Tanner says:
what type of signal is wimax again?
Dan says:
Is there any bandwidth limit like Wi-Tribe(6GB) did? if does, how much bandwidth limit?
Abe Olandres says:
@dan – it says unlimited bandwidth but not sure if there is bandwidth capping.
manaka_junpei says:
sana Dynamic IP ang SmartBro na yan
Jhay says:
Again it’s all about location, location, location!
Can’t wait to see comparative tests between this one and Globe’s WiMax offering.
Teknisyan says:
Looks like WiTribe will be outplayed by big outfits like Globe and Smart. I guess it’s all about the marketing.
I guess 3 is better than 1, atleast for a consumer’s point of view… any news about Bayantel’s own version of WiMax?
mindyQ says:
@Teknisyan
Bayan is committed to CDMA/EvDo. you can learn more about it on Wikipedia
CrackberryRon says:
@abeolandres that was quick.so same thing like when I subscribe my BB to BIS.So 4 that HTC notifications should work, thanks sir!
CrackberryRon says:
@abeolandres Coz I’m having a 2nd thought if I should buy HTC Desire or not coz maybe the push notifiction won’t work for prepaid, thanks!!
abeolandres says:
@CrackberryRon i have htc desire and it works on prepaid jsut fine
CrackberryRon says:
@abeolandres wow, that’s nice to know. You’ve been a great help. Hope you’re enjoying your Android experience. Thanks a lot!
kim says:
kim tanga says:
kim bobo much? haha. Hindi pa naman bumabagyo for the past four months so ano pinag-sasabi mo?
Jon says:
If u were you guys, i wont get too excited. However, this is a good thing since it will somehow decongest, or at least not add more congestion to Smart’s 3G network.
Bhong says:
@kim… 4 months? el niño season yun ah.mukhang die hard fanatic ka ng Globe wimax. hehehe!
kim wahaha says:
@kim tanga
wahaha. ur so mean, pero uu nga nman sobrng init for the last 4 months.

Location. Seemed the telcos are each other’s throats in the metro.
Edgar says:
typo: …are at each other’s ..
Leo says:
may locked-in period din kaya?
Abe Olandres says:
@Leo – like any other Smart service, there’s a lock-in period. Possibly similar to SmartBro Share-It at 24 months.
defunct says:
Efren Sy says:
The Rate is the same but the speed is slower?
stick with smartbro upto 2mbps they should provide better speeds
WiMax and WiTribe would then be in danger
flyah says:
I hope. the telcos would open their eyes and offer their customers with faster connections.
paco says:
the goog news is walang lock-in period.
Free Hosting says:
Why settle for a lesser speed? Personally, I don’t see this as a viable option for on the go.
But like what Teknisyan said, 3 providers should be better for us than just 1.
dee says:
dynamic din sana ung ip? last time i checked witribe, static sya eh. kahit anong power off gawin ko sa modem hehe
toen says:
hello guys! just want to share up my experience in wimax. currently im working here in Libya at sa company we’re using LibyaMax (Wimax), speed is quite amazing 2.5mbps download and I’m getting even more. The downside… you need a good signal basically your “location” is important, if your a gamer “ping” is a big issue here, and sorry guys sa tingin ko the same din dyan na share ang ip mo sa iba. This is just my experience
xtian says:
can i hooked it to a wifi router??? plss help!
Manuel says:
all I can say is… ang bagal parin ng speed and overpriced parin compared to other countries @-) I believe these companies can still push it to around 2-3 Mbps for a thousand pesos. :|
Arvee says:
Unfortunately for broadband subscribers, SmartBro ventured on WiMax before upgrading their 3G infrastructures and bandwidth. Some still get speeds extremely lower than their advertised 2MBps speed (for some, they’re lucky enough to reach 500KBps). Poor them and all broadband victims. :(

Leo26 says:
mhon says:
I have a bad experience with smartbro…
Maintenance everyday?Imagine malapit pa kami satower ng smart within the same barangay pa ha. ingat po kayo sa smart dito sa Bulacan 4 na kami nagpaputol ng smart nakakdala maganda lang siguro yan sa Manila. Di po ako employee ng globe or any telco’s ah…pero mas ok talaga PLDT DSL or Globe Wimax… di bumababa speedrate…
Plss! Answer!
mhon says:
carlos_m says:
How come there is already an announcement ad and press release but the details are hidden? Why not full disclosure of area coverage, bandwith cap and other restrictions? this telco, they give advertising a bad name!
techno_green says:
guys share ko lang.
i have try globe wi-max. fair enough ang speed nya for 800 plans ata yun. the customer service okay din, magalang. ang problem ko lang is the connection after the typoon basyang. on the typoon day itself may connection pako plus after 2 days pa ng typhoon meron pa din. but on the 3rd day wala hinde nako maka connect. i keep on follow up my problem…we try to solve using the phone. they cant restore my connection, even 3 technicians on site na pumunta sa bahay they cant restore my internet. funny i have neighbor same globe wimax pero may connection sya. I cant really understand sa sya meron ako wala. they said na puno na yun slot to have a connection. i said panu yun slot ko dati. sira daw kaya hinde ako maka connect sa globe itself…the modem and connection sa tower is okay but the connection in the internet is not. so i tell the tech guy what should i do, they tell me wait wait lang makakaroon din yan. i have enough i tell them 10days nako naghihintay walang connection and your telling me to wait lang makakaroon din yan…eto im going to bring back their modem. and im not gonna pay them for the time na i didnt used. hope nakatulong sa inyo.
jhayzhon says:
ManilaTalata says:
Hi 2 all most especially sa SMART hahaha! Well I’m a subscriber of Smart Bro Antenna (tama? hehe) last 2009,for first 3mos.the con.was good afterthen the connection started to hassle us, as they say “once in a bluemoon” ito nangyayari haha so after 1yr the SBro-Ant connection turned worst from 12nn to 7pm limited connection kami, itawag mo man o hindi sa CS wala rin silang nagawa haha so in short naka-1yr. and 4mos. kami sa SMART then switch kami sa GlobeWiMax “kuno” 1st hours of GWiMax sablay na agad parang yung nag-install lang ang pinakitaang gilas eh hehe, tinesting ko sa FB and YTube anak ng ang bagal magload ng page pati ng video sa YTube haha disappointed ako siyempre,..pero no choice eh!
Sa commercial ang lakas ng Globe sa personal thumbs down! and according to the Globe Sales Agent it’s a free installation we only have to down 500persos anak ng pating pagkatanggap ko ng 1st bill ko sa GWiMax 1,800+ ang babayaran minus the DPayment lalo kong nabadtrip.
So nag-decide akong ipa-cut 1mo.to be exact tutal naman sa kanila na galing na kapag di ka satisfied sa performance ng kanilang device este GWiMax eh may refund ka pa but when I went to GCenter de fungi nalaman ko na icha-charge ako ng x2 monthly bill for termination kung gusto ko raw ipa-disconnect kasi wala raw akong pinirmahan for 30 day trial!
T***na nung agent sabi niya anytime, pwede ipa-cut pero wala siyang binanggit bout sa pipirmahan 30day trial nor offering the said paper thou many times siyang tinanong ng kapatid ko about other payments.
Hindi ako biased because of my experienced I’m just saying the truth.Elib nga ko sa Globe kasi sa tawagan humahataw sa linaw ng linya eh.Nung i-demo samin itong SBWiMax before pickin’ up the kit the day after tomorrow, it shows 3 bars and the demo device was so fast but when I got my own SBWiMax device sakit din pala sa ulo! haha!
Gamit ko SmartBroWiMax up to 2mbps plan 999 kasi slow eh!
About damn time!!! Sana open for more upgrades ang WiMax kesa 3G (which I believe has already reached its limit).
jhayzhon says:
Hey guys I’m just sharing my SmartBro WiMAX experience.
I’m monitoring my SmartBro WiMAX everyday and put the details or my experience on my blog here http://mysmartbrowimaxdiary.blogspot.com/
I just noticed that everything is OK on my device.
Signal: 2 to 3 bars
Ping(google.com)Idle: 90 to 110ms – no request timed out
Download speed: 125kBps max – using flashget or torrent
Ping(google.com): 900 to 1100ms – a little bit request timed out
but when I browse, most of the time I always get “The Connection has timed outâ€. It only means that their backbone system/base station/access point/etc.. is really the problem.
tsenre says:
i’ve been a subscriber of smart canopy type yon sa bulacan year 2005 pa and yon sa quezon city ko naman year 2007 pa. never ako nagkaproblem sa connection laging hataw at naka router pa kami kasi gamit namin ito sa mga site office namin. pa check nyo lang mabuti sa mga subcontractors/technician na nag iinstall ng unit kc minsan minamadali nila pag set-up at pag hindi mo tinutukan at tinitignan habang sineset=up un pc bara bara nila gagawin yon kc marami pa silang ibang iinstall. the more na mainstall the more kita nila from smart. TIP ko lang isave nyo lahat un set-up nila thru print screen as jpeg para masundan nyo at pag alam ng technician na nakakaintindi kayo gagawin nila ng maayos.
henjie says:

Walang silbi eto, same crap with their smartbro usb/share it. been using their crappy service for almost 4 months. fortunately for me, may PLDT na sa area ko. Dont be fooled with their ads, puro lang yan marketing, sa totoo dili nila kaya ibigay yan.

Hi guys, I went to Smart the other day to supposedly get Smart Plan 999 with canopy kasi marami din akong positive feedback na naririnig from other users including my friend. But unfortunately on HOLD pa daw yon kasi naubusan daw sila ng canopy, totoo kaya yon or baka naman they just pushing the new products para mabenta?
I ask the customer service, when they’re going to resume the fixed smartbro plan but walang definite answer.
I was thinking of acquiring itong smart wimax kasi may malapit na Cell Site sa amin.
ROLZ says:
Depend if the near cell site capable of delivering microwave signal…iba kasi ang canopy compare sa wimax.
taga bukid says:
malamang maganda lang to sa simula… hintay lang next year kung ano mga comments ng gumagamit nito…
ManilaTalata says:
@http://www.ez-dollar-income.ws/
Please do not ever get a SBWimax it will give you headaches and bad days! Based on our experience using this thingy grrr…
We were waiting for canopy pero gaya nga ng sinabi ng iba “not sure” din. Kaya eto tiyaga kami sa Plann 999 na Plug-It Share-It.
Hope this helps!
www.ez-dollar-income.ws says:
@Manila Talata,
Like you, I’ll wait for the canopy type.
Thanks again..
Mania Talata says:
@http://www.ez-dollar-income.ws/
Tsk..tsk..tsk!
Your welcome…
Brando Bandit says:
Ang masaklap, 24 months locked in period!
We are all connected around the world through submarine cable… —————– eto ang the best na gawin… kung makaka-connect ka directly sa SWITCH I assure you ang ganda ng connection nyo at no slow and intermittent… yun nga lang mga taga telco na techkie lang ang gumagawa nun pero di alam ng company nila…. hehehehehe
Manila Talata says:
Good luck!
Just wanna share this experienced I had in availing SBWimax. Nang may magdemo dito samin ang bilis, pati yung backlit ng device 4 to 5 kaya napahanga kami, kinabukasan ang pag-pick-up namin ng device, after namin makuha yung samin aba isang himala 3 bars na wala “no connection” when we try “google” halos 1 hr. before magflash ng tuluyan yung whole site ng google na kung tutuusin napakadali lang magload ng google..geez! TWO THUMBS DOWN! talaga ko sa SBWimax.
smartbobo says:
another ooops for smart telco again. before smartbro, there’s a smart wifi. that’s the only “wifi” that you’re literally “wired” inside your house. what they meant by “wifi” by then was the signal was delivered wireless thru canopy and you have to be wired to get connected to the net. (that’s really so dumb about smart).
and now, they are trying to use the WiMax name, which, if you scrutinize the specification of WiMax, the offered speed of the smart wimax is not even close to the specification. I should say that, this is just another strategy of the wireless provider to get you to buy another of their crappy product.
jeffrey says:
mangdaraya po ang smartbro. last nov.22 nag apply po ako ng fixed canopy 2mpbs plan. tuesday dumating sila kinabitan nila ako ng 1mbps canopy download speed ko is only 700kbps. setting na ginawa nya sa QoS:
sustained uplink/downlink rate : 300/700 kbps
max uplink/downlink burst rate : 1500/1500 kbps
sa friend ko na maayos ung canopy,
sustained uplink/downlink rate : 300/1700 <<< kbps
max uplink/downlink burst rate : 3000/3000 <<< kbps
jherwynne says:
@jeffrey
Naghintay pa sila ng set of licenses from Motorola para ma-upgrade to 2Mbps and after 2 weeks, ayun, naayos din!
Btw, if you want to access the canopy page, just type 169.254.1.1
cloner says:
@smartbro: i’d rather go dial up than suffer again with your crappy internet service!!!

niwala naman kau jan sa smart…they are smart liars! but not as smart as my ass! hehe ganun din yun globe. gosh! internet cafe na alng. hehe
Jerome says:
Manila Talata says:
@Jerome buti ka nga in 3mos. maganda ang performance ng GWiMax sa’yo eh sa amin pagkareceive pa lang anak ng parang dial-up as in dial up talaga! Kainis…
Sa ngayon plug it share it kami mas ok pa toh kesa sa mga wimax geez kainis!
sonny maningas says:
LOL!

hmm…ano daw !!! dapat kayong maging smart !!
Anti Pinas ISP says:

smartbro canopy 2mbps – smartbro wimax 1mbps only. so yep id rather stay with canopy, minsan pa nga 3mbps connection ko jijijiji (canopy user from makati)

ManilaTalata says:
@everyone: I suggest if you really want a good internet provider and cheap chose smart but it depends on plans. We have plug-it-share it and 1 yr na kaming di binibigyan ng sakit ng ulo. Don’t purchase wimax and canopy they’re sucks! ;)
valley says:
pwede kaya ang smart wimax sa laoag city ilocos norte or near laoag?itong wimax kapag walang signal na 3g or 4g ay makakaconnect pa rin ba?
Manila Talata says:
Hehe!
lizzy says:
ika 3months na namin sa smart wimax, sa una lang pala ang mabilis after a month sobrang bagal na talaga. not been using my smart wimax anymore. waste of money lang talaga.. paying the smart company without getting any services.. ilang times na kami tumatawag sa customers service nila same phrase lang ang sinasabi. check the speed test.. mabuti na lang mabait yung nagrent sa amin ng apartment pinashare muna kami ng connection. guys never get a wimax sa smart.. its really sucks..

Tom says:
If you are using canopy it would help kung lalagyan nyo ng password, dahil it works like a Wifi, so malamang pati neighbors nyo nakikishare na sa connection nyo ng free, I suggested this to my friend who are using this and he thank me endlessly for the new discovery, gumanda raw talaga ang signal after making a password for the family.
Nan says:
Hi Tom,
just ask, I’m using Smart WiMax customer premise equipment (indoor CPE) connected to my dd-wrt router as wifi system, how do you put password? I agree to your observation, can you me?
Thank you so much!
Aiza says:
Hello Tom,
We just applied for Smart Wimax 999 and I’m wondering if it works like a Wifi for the whole house even without router? Or should we need a separate router para magkaroon lang ng Wifi sa buong bahay? Confused kasi kame ng sister ko since dalawa kami with separate laptops gagamit ng net.
Thanks looking forward for ur response.
nhing fernandez says:
Lizzy, i agree with you, ilang beses kaming nag rereport at tumatawag sa smart service pero same phrase nga answer nila”check speed”,.
super bagal ng smartbro, Guys,it`s a waste of money kung kukuha kayo ng service nila., don`t try what i am experienceing right now from them.
im just a concerned citizen (“,).
