Sun offers Unlimited Calls & Texts for Php25

You have to give it to Sun Cellular for shaking things up and making the “unlimited” offering very cheap and popular among the masses. I guess they’re partly to credit why the Philippines is still the texting capital of the world.

And they continue to challenge the competition and offer cheaper deals like this Call & Text 25 (CTU25):

Granted, the unlimited call and text are only applicable to Sun to Sun connections but their network now has over 12 million subscribers (from 1 to 2 million a few years back) so at least we know either more people are switching to Sun or making it their second line.

The CTU25 charges a one-time fee of Php25.00 to make unlimited calls and texts within the Sun Cellular network (just text CTU25 to 247). If you subscribe 3 days in a row, they’ll give you the 4th day free. So if you subscribe 23 days in a month, you get the whole month on CTU25. Total spend for 30 days is about Php562.50.

I’m not really on Sun prepaid but anybody out there using Sun can let us know how this works out.

paano mag unli sa sun ng 15 pesos??

  4. Jerry says:

    thanks,

  7. Sora says:

Pwede ako magtagalog? Hehe para sa akin, SUN is a blessing. I’ve been using Sun for the past 2 years. Actually I’d be nearing my third year of using sun by March 21 (well, I know, that doesn’t concern you much haha). It’s a big help for stabilizing my communication with my wife. Less expenses, more savings. Kahit na pre-paid ako, mas matipid parin. Actually, I never tried other promos of Sun like the 150 Unlimited Text or something. I always use the CTU450 with a free regular load of 50. Noong nag-Ondoy, globe and smart signals are hard to come by, pero ang sun? Walang problema. Sun is a blessing. And it will always be.

  8. Sun User since 2003 says:

Quoted from a post by Corsair:
“I think you’re giving way too much credit to Sun Cellular.

They are NOT the first to give unlimited call and text at P25. You should give credit to Red mobile. They offered their call-and-text unlimited service a few weeks before Sun did (Red – March 6, Sun – March 21), and it would be safe to say that the only reason Sun brought down their price is because of competitive pressure.”

Lol! Were you living in a cave for the past 6 years? Sun pioneered the intranetwork unlimited calls and texts! The point of Yuga is Sun shaked Smart and Globe so much that both giants were forced to offer something similar (yet seemingly overpriced as opposed to Sun’s offer). The reason why Sun deserves the credit because, if it weren’t because of Sun, Filipinos up to now will have to stick with the 1 peso per text and 6.50 – 7.50 per minute call rate and with that, Sun deserves all the credits, no doubt about that.

For your information (just in case my hunches are right that you were indeed living in a cave for the past 6 years), Sun has long offered the Call and Text Unlimited way long before the Red Mobile brand was even brought to life. If I am not mistaken, Sun has started offering the 24/7 Call and Text Unlimited service since 2004, and not just this March 21 which you stated.

  9. bisaya ko says:

    daming makukulit dito :D

  11. BURN says:

2 thumbs up for sun.. now i barely load up my globe sim, though im a globe user too.. sun beats globe by a mile when it comes to promos. :) btw, i am a globe user since 1998, f anyone can remember.. globe users would fall in line and pay p170 to have the txt feature be activated for a month… sigh. once activated, you would send your message 3 times to make sure d recepient gets the message. haha enough about globe. hurray for sun!

    • brix_lee says:

    Question:
Yung sa group plan 899 ba sa sun, monthly yung 600 free texts to other networks? :)

  14. dane says:

    @ corsair

does the blog say that sun cellular was the first to give CTU/day @ 25?

It says only that sun cellular offers CTU/day @ 25 pesos.

  15. sun_goko says:

In terms of coverage panalo ang smart but in terms of subsribers’ density panalo ang sun.

Sun has aprox. 12million subsribers over aprox 5000 cell site, so they only have 2400user/site.
While Smart has 40million subscribers over their aprox 8000 cell site – 5000user/site.
Less number of people/site means good quality of service.
So in terms of density panalo ang sun.

  16. Corsair says:

    @yuga

To say that “Red was not considered because of their limited service coverage and handset limitations” is slipshod and careless.

Red mobile is powered by Smart (in the same way that Talk ‘N Text is powered by Smart and TM is powered by Globe). To say that they have limited service coverage is saying that Smart has limited coverage compared to Sun (which we all know is not true, as Smart claims to have “nationwidest” coverage).

Red mobile used to run only on 3G capable handsets when it was introduced, but by June 2009 (almost one year already) they opened their network to 2G access. Thus there is no longer a handset limitation to speak of. All handsets, whether 2G or 3G, work with Red mobile.

I hope you understand where I am coming from and why setting this straight is important. As a frequent visitor of your blog, I would like to be assured that the posts/entries I read are fair and well-researched. Unless of course this is a paid post, in which case any bias toward Sun Cellular is completely understandable (but that fact should have been declared).

  17. Corsair says:

    @yuga

I think you’re giving way too much credit to Sun Cellular.

They are NOT the first to give unlimited call and text at P25. You should give credit to Red mobile. They offered their call-and-text unlimited service a few weeks before Sun did (Red – March 6, Sun – March 21), and it would be safe to say that the only reason Sun brought down their price is because of competitive pressure.

If it weren’t for Red mobile’s pricing, Sun would never have changed it’s own offer (why would it when it’s already running on very thin, if not negative, margins?).

So yeah, the opening paragraph is completely misrepresentative of market dynamics. Sun did NOT challenge the competition. Instead, it was the one who got challenged by Red.

-> I’m a true-blue Globe subscriber (2 postpaid accounts and 1 prepaid account), and I do not work for Red mobile. I just think a professional blogger’s post should be written with fairness and scrupulous attention to detail.

    • Abe Olandres says:

@corsair – Red was not considered because of their limited service coverage and handset limitations.

  18. dane says:

    @Ian

I think “no”.. free txt “yes”..

  19. Ian says:

I mean like rebates in globe or free cellphone. like that

    tnx

  20. dane says:

    @ Ian

We alll know that all networks caters call and text services. The only benefit if we subscribe to sun cellular is the “SAVINGS”. try it to experience.

  21. Ian says:

what kind of benefits when you become a loyal postpaid subscriber?

  22. roen says:

i luv sun, have been subscriber for many years already (7 yrs. i think?)

some minor problems at times, but generally very good for me. i’ve got subscription extension for my family too.

  23. Pepe says:

Diba dati pang 25 pesos for 1 day call and text unlimited ang sun? :o

  27. hannah says:

    @konote

magagamit pa naman ang sim basta magload ako ng panibago. ang sa akin naman is binili ko sya feb 12 pero nilagay/install/insert ko ang sim sa cellphone after a few days pa. di ba dapat maaactivate lang ang sim on the day na nilagay/install/insert sa cellphone?

lesson learned na lang on my part not to be too trusting siguro. dapat tinest ko kaagad baka na-prove ko pa na me gumamit na pala ng sim tapos binenta ulit.

  28. KoNote says:

    Hi Hanna.

Yan SIM na yan kapag hindi pa na gamit yan at binili mo ya on the day before April Fool’s Day 2011., Naku talagang hindi na magamit yan. Pero kapag ginamit mo yan bago mag March 31 2011. Magagamit mo pa yan.

  29. hannah says:

kaya nga ako kumuha ng sun kasi interested ako and i wanted to test the call quality by calling my friends with sun numbers. inaaway nyo ko ha :-P

o ayan, kitang-kita on the front “libreng load: unlimited sun-to-sun texts 10 minutes of sun-to-sun calls 5 texts to other networks all valid for 1 day”

at the back “IF UNUSED, THIS SIM WILL EXPIRE BY: MARCH 31,2011”

me right din naman ako na sumama ang loob no.

    peace.

  30. agentorenz says:

Sun prepaid user ako since 2004.

  31. simplynice93 says:

Sun should improve the mobile internet service. May times na mabilis ang connection but most of the time…ang bagal talaga!

  32. cArLo_AnGeLo says:

I’m on Sun’s plan 350 CTU Unlimited.. everything’s great,,huge savings on calls(sun tio sun) plus, there’s 250 consumable free texts to other networks monthly.

I used to be on prepaid but I realized that I’d save more on sun postpaid. ;]

  33. Jan Brane says:

@hannah: if you are referring to the WinnerTxt10 SIM card, talagang 0.00 balance yun, even the 29 Super Budget SIM. kasi Sun promos/service do not reflect on their balance inquiry number 221. Regular load and Free text lang ang lalabas dun, then after a minute or two you should receive an SMS regarding the subscribed promos/service mo.

@all: I’ve been a prepaid user since it launched. I still use the same number and I was thrilled when they first offered the unli service. Very dramatic ang change/transformation ng SUN, and it’s for the better. Dati, i used to load CTU when its still 250, then 350. Then I switched to TU (Text Unli) when it came with 4 hours free call (Sun-to-Sun).

Now, I have 1892 minutes of Sun to Sun calls.
Sa bahay naka postpaid plan na 999 for 3 phones with CTU enrolled. Super tipid! If Sun will grow and will have a nationwide coverage, olats na ang GLobe and Smart.

Plus, they already tested and modified their network to handle many subscribers calling and texting over a 5 year period.

  34. dane says:

    @ kinny

pag nag load k ng 150 regular load at convert mo s TU150 meron k pang 25 txt to onther network. mas ok db? kaysa sa magload k ng TU150 agad wala kang free txt.

  35. harv3y says:

I’m using SUN since its birth. Nung una npakahirap at panget ng service perolaki ng improvement. Sulit pa rin kung my contacts is also SUN subscriber.

I’m using Text unlimited (150 for 1 month). Unlimited texting with FREE 4 hrs Calls. Sulit rin text to other network at 0.50/text using Budgetxt (BGT20 = 40text to other network or BGT5 10 txt to other network)

Thanks. BTW I also have GLOBE and SMART #s.

  36. kinny says:

Their Text Unlimited 150 is one I really love. It cuts my Globe bill down to half because my helpers, hubby and some businesses i call all have sun.

  37. minipin says:

Everytime I receive my monthly billing from Sun Cellular, it tells how much I have saved. on the average, it’s more than P3,000 per month savings due to unlimited sun-to-sun calls and texts. thank you Sun Cellular for making my business grow! =)

  38. Bianca Bargas says:

  39. Monique says:

My family has been sun subscribers for almost 3 years now. One of their barkada plans which offer 666/month. Daylight CTU and reduced rates during peak times. @ only 222/ person within the family, it’s really cost efficient.

  40. Monette says:

I actually have a love-hate relationship with Sun but I have been their subscriber for 4 years now.

  41. rico says:

sun service? 5-stars for its value.

    whether as sole sim/phone or as 2nd phone – its a win-win!

their service has improved dramatically compared to previous years.

its so cheap that it feels they are (almost)giving it away for free.

*i usually use sulit30, 60mins sun to sun calls for seven(7) days, 30pesos only.

*but if i need to make a long call(s), i use call & txt unlimited for 24 hours, 25pesos only.

note: if u still have sulit30 and enrolled on CTU, when making a call, your sulit30 will be consumed first before CTU or unli call takes effect)

    *** very good value> DAYLITE call + unli txt for seven(7) days, 12mn-6pm UNLIMITED CALL, P0.25/in Sun-to-Sun calls from 6pm to 11:59pm, + 30p bonus load = for 100 pesos only.

    saan ka pa?

  42. Miguel says:

Good for call/text users but we should really be moving to mobile Internet…

  43. wha says:

hahaha, sun is rili the one hu open this CRAZE… im not a sun users. but they rili great

  44. anonymous says:

why dont you credit Sun Cellular for pioneering unlimited calls text landline and internet in one? Globe yet again ripped off Sun Cellular Elite Plans! :)

    -Sent via YugaTech Mobile App

  45. Christopher says:

    @ian:

They have now the WinnerSIM – only P10. Includes 1 day of Unlimited Text and 5 mins. of calls – sun to sun.

Bought 3 of these so that we can call unlimited kahit paano.

And for the service of Sun – my mom since launch is a Suncell sub, I’m on Postpaid also and my fiancee is on prepaid — no problems at all.

  46. mindyQ says:

I use Flexi 50 for 5 days for prepaid

    P0.25 sms to sun
P0.50 sms to other domestic networks
P0.50 per minute calls to sun
P5.50 per minute calls to other domestic networks

I’ve also used Unlimited Mix 25

    unlimited sms to sun
20 sms to other domestic networks
15 minutes of calls to sun per hour (360 minutes per 24 hours)
    15 minutes mobile internet

  47. dane says:

  48. Ian says:

    *follow up

  49. Ian says:

    sir yuga

at plan 350 they could make unlimited call and text sun to sun :)

    @hannah

they don’t sell P10 only I think ung simcard na un is called “hubad na simcard” coz its the sim only.

  50. Jaypee says:

    @dane
So go Sun! continue on shaking up the competition hehe \m/

  51. dane says:

    @ jaypee – tama k dyan…

    thumbs up ako dyan….

  52. Jaypee says:

If it weren’t for Sun siguro wala pa rin unlimited offerings ang smart and globe. Btw, globe subscriber here .^^

    Go Sun!! hehe.

  53. dane says:

@ Hanna – you are just complaining to sun because you are a loyal globe subscriber. Just complain to police station… lol

For me sun is stil the best in terms of call and savings.

  54. gelogs says:

I’m using sun postpaid as y primary line for 6 years now. Never had a problem about their unlimited service. I pay 600 pesos every month for call and text unlimited + about Php 200 worth of credits for other transactions.

  55. hannah says:

    @yuga – for P10? i did not bother. makaka-stress lang.

@markmarcelo – yes, that’s my opinion. im a globe subscriber for more than 4 years now and i have a prepaid smart, i wanted to try out sun coz i’ve heard so many good things about it. unfortunately, i did not have a very good experience trying it out.

smart currently has the 500/mo unli and globe has th 499/mo unli. and so far i really like the globe. smart’s not so bad.

  56. Spidey says:

I have been a pre-paid user of Sun Cellular, I load only P150/mo. I have unli text and 4 hours of voice call to all Sun users… So far, so good.

  57. markmarcelo0210 says:

@ hannah – that’s your opinion. I have been a Sun subscriber for 6 years now. Im happy with their service…

  58. Abe Olandres says:

@hannah – did you file a complaint against the seller?

  59. hannah says:

nah. i decided one time to try SUN, so i bought the txt10 simpack last feb 12. but was able to use it only the following week, the expiry written on the simpack was until march 2011. When i finally installed the sim, i was disappointed that it had zero balance. it was supposed to have P10 worth of few minutes of calls.

i called the SUN customer service, which is by the way a nightmare with the many press 1s and press 2s, i was even more disappointed when the customer representative informed me that it was activated feb 12. how could that be when i just inserted the sim, nasa computer daw nila na feb 12 and it expires within 24 hours.

i confronted the seller about this and he told me it was already activated before they sell it. what a scam! i will never bother to get SUN again no matter how good their new offer is. period.

  60. markmarcelo0210 says:

SUN CELLULAR is simply the best… =)

  61. Ardz says:

  62. pao says:

in fairness to sun, even if i had a bad experience with their wireless internet, their phone service is good. at least in our area. laking tipid nito sa phone bills namin ng family ko.
