Affordable 32″ & 42″ LCD TVs from American Home

Been using this 42″ LCD TV by American Home for a couple of months now. It sits in the corner of my bedroom and hooks up to the Apple TV and the Mede8ter Media Player. The other 32″ model is hooked up to a laptop for when I’m playing DOTA.

American Home isn’t an unfamiliar brand. They make a whole line of home appliances from washing machines, air conditioners and TV sets. I actually own a couple of appliances by American Home (I think it’s microwave oven and a couple of other smaller items) so when they contacted me and asked if I’d like to try their LCD TVs, I said yes.

So these two LCD TVs (a 32″ and 42″ variant) was sent to me a few months ago and they’ve been my primary display in the bedroom.

While the 32″ variant (AHLCD32W60) is only 1366×768 in resolution, the 42″ model supports up to 1080p full HD movies.

Their design don’t really stand out that much but they’re practical home appliances that’s both affordable yet with a familiar brand name that spans a whole line of other products.

The 32-inch doesn’t produce the best results in terms of display quality but it’s decent and gets the job done. Most 32-incher LCD TVs usually have 1366×768 resolution and this variant offers the same.

The 42-inch variant (AHLCD42W60) has the much better specs and offers a full HD 1080p (1920×1080 pixels) resolution. It’s a bit chunky and heavy (took a lot of effort to install this one by my self) but that’s typical of LCD TVs these days.

Display quality is great, fairly good contrast with clear and vivid pictures. The black pictures aren’t really that very black though, a limitation of most LCD displays. Was playing a couple of Bluray titles on the TV and they turn out really well (Can’t really tell the difference between my old 32″ Samsung and 40″ Toshiba LCD TVs I’ve been using at home for years. And to think I bought those for a fortune).

Both variants come with an HDMI port at the back as well as USB 2.0 ports which you can plug to an external storage or media player (the TVs don’t have an internal media player so you need to hook them up to a USB player to work).

The remote control that came with the TVs was plasticky, feels very light and hs a conservative number of buttons that’s simple and not very confusing to use.

The 32-inch model sold for around Php17k a couple months ago (though the current SRP is Php18,499) so it should be a a little lower by now. The 42-inch model has a suggested retail price of Php37,499 (street price is a couple thousands lower as well).

American Home isn’t the first brand name you’d think when you’re looking for a TV set but they sure does offer some pretty affordable alternatives. They don’t have a website but you can check them out at their FB Page here.

Is American Home Made in Phils? Or is it another Made in PRC junk? If it’s made here locally, then I’ll buy its line of products w/o batting an eyelash! I currently have need for appliances to furnish a soon to be ‘up for rent’ condo unit.

  16. AdonaOlongapo says:

Maganda po quality 42″ LCD nakabibili lang namin ngayong March for 21k. Ok na ok ang price compared with other brands. I also have an American Home microwave and washing machine na mga 3 years na rin sa amin but still functioning well.Kaya it’s worth trying. So far, ang sarap ng feeling kailangan lang namin magpacable pero khit antenna lang kami ganda pdin =)

  17. Ads says:

Thinking of getting a new TV. But I am afraid getting this brand. I think KTC brands are better and way cheaper. IMHO.

  18. Futreskah says:

32″ LED tv nabili ko kahapon, kaso disapointed ako sa naging result nya kc parang pixelated sya pag cable nakaantena, at some point naman parang may mga kitikiti na nasa display nya pag super moving ung pinapanood, may kailangan pa ba akong bilihin para mas gumanda yung display. like HDMI Box?

  19. kapitan says:

    parang samsung nga ang design.

  20. moymoy says:

my plantsang “de oling” is american home too!

  21. mimi says:

this seems interisting but don’t really know the quality of american home esp sa tv. sa abensons dito sa cebu ung 42″ na LG 42LK450 is 36k nlang pag cash. Full hd1080p na din. Sa sm naman is ung Sony na 40′ is 37k nlang.

  22. Christian says:

I wish it has built in ISDB-T Tuner. :)

  23. dan says:

Yap, iiyak sa KTC to. 23L15 full hd @ 8.5k 32L11 full hd @ 14.5k 42L15 @ 26.5k except sa 32L11 (old model but full hd) all has media player. the new 32L15 has media player but hd ready only @ 16.5k pc shops at gilmore

  24. chuckie says:

I got a 40′ model for 22,000.00 from SM last week, great deal. Looks exactly the same as Devant nga. Made by the same factory siguro. Parang samsung yun design.

  25. daddyjoey says:

american home din ung 32″ na washing machine ko. lol!

  26. Tanky Ang says:

i got the 32 lcd a year and a half ago, so far so good. just felt bad that my cousin was able to get one 5k cheaper than what i paid for it. price dropped real quick.

  27. emignatius says:

The remote control looks exactly the same with Devant’s. Rebranding I suppose. Anyway, just an experience regarding American Home appliances. I bought a rice cooker from SM appliances. Within 2 months it broke on me twice. I’m not sure if I was just the unluckiest rice-cooker buying bastard at the time or if it’s because of the brand. To make things short, I swear not to buy another American Home made appliance again.

    • emignatius says:

@yuga. The first time it broke I was able to get it replaced, the second time, I just gave up on it entirely and just bought a new one with a different brand instead.

    • Abe Olandres says:

      @emignatius – no warranty?

  28. jonaflormicfren says:

It is a nice one, I like it.

  29. ogago says:

    mag KTC na lang ako..

  30. Messie says:

I would love to have a price comparison vs other known brands para pansin talaga na malaki ang pagkamura nito. Nevertheless, 35k is a good deal for a 42″ full HD. Last time I checked, Samsung’s 42 is around 50k (although may free 22″ lcd tv iyun). I am just not sure with the durability of American Home’s TV.

  31. zaiko says:

    para saan yun USB ports?

    • MJRI says:

So you can play media off flash drives.

  32. Calvin says:

    LED TV wala?

    • Abe Olandres says:

@calvs – meron, baka yun ang next.
