Gigabyte grows their monitor line-up with yet another addition. The Gigabyte M32U was released late 2021. It is a 32-inch 4K monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate that is based on an IPS panel with a 1ms GtG response time and a 90% DCI-P3 color gamut as advertised by Gigabyte.
The monitor comes in a brown box with the basic information on the front. The packaging gives the user an idea of what to expect – a plug-and-play monitor that does what it is expected to do.
Coming from the front end of the Gigabyte M32u, it comes with a 31.5-inch IPS panel surrounded by thin bezels which is more or less 8mm thin on the sides and top, while it is 20mm thin at the bottom. At the chin of the monitor, you will see the Gigabyte logo. Very similar to the Gigabyte M27Q but with a 32-inch 4K display, and without the superfluous gamer flair normally associated with the Aorus monitor line. For the base, we have an M-shaped metal core covered in plastic. Should you be wondering if you have enough space on your desk, the base is 490mm in width and 350mm in depth.
If the base is not something you fancy, you could always VESA mount the Gigabyte M32U as this is compatible with a VESA 100×100 table or wall mount. The stand has a hole that is mainly used for cable management. The stand allows for about a 20-degree angle tilt, a 30-degree swivel in both directions, as well as an adjustable height of about 130mm.
The Gigabyte M32U is VESA Display HDR400 certified with a 350cd/m2 brightness with a 1ms response time.
The Gigabyte M32U is equipped with a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB Type-C port. The HDMI 2.1 port is the latest addition to most monitors in the market enabling support for 4K at 120Hz gameplay on select consoles. According to Gigabyte, all their 4K monitors moving forward will be having an HDMI 2.1 port which makes it an excellent choice for console gamers to fully take advantage of what the Sony PS5 and Xbox Series S or X have to offer which of course, includes gaming at 4K 120Hertz. The USB Type-C port can also be used for data transfer between PC and whatever is plugged into the three USB 3.0 Type-A ports next to it.
Additionally, the USB-C port has power delivery functions that can be used to charge laptops and other devices. Do note that the power delivery limit is only at 18watts. Other ports include a USB Type-B upstream port and a 3.5mm audio output that can be used to route the sound to your headphones.
The Gigabyte M32U uses a small four-way joystick that provides a button for the OSD navigation and monitor setup. This gives convenient access to factory picture profiles, speaker volumes, virtual crosshairs, input selection, black level, and other things.
Other functions of the monitor give access to the Gaming Section that reveals the gaming-related technologies such as Overdrive, Aim Stabilizer Sync, Black Equalizer, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. The AMD FreeSync Premium Pro turns on adaptive sync for both AMD and NVIDIA Graphics cards. Here you’d also see the Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-picture options, adjust OSD display time, size, and transparency, change quick settings, as well as switch off the front-facing LED and HDMI interface version, and so on.
If you’re not a fan of fiddling with joysticks, you can utilize the OSD Sidekick. This is a Windows app that allows you to do everything on the OSD as well. For the app to work, the monitor has to have a USB connection to the PC.
All-in-all the Gigabyte M32U is a pretty amazing monitor that gives more than what you need in a productivity or gaming setup. It is basically a monitor that has more features than RGB on it which we could say would be able to give the buyer’s their money’s worth. If you’re after something more flamboyant with RGB and other aesthetically pleasing features, then you’re probably not the market of this monitor.
The Gigabyte M32U is currently available for PHP47,995 at Datablitz or your nearest retailer or authorized Gigabyte stores nationwide.
