LG’s new top-tier Signature OLED TV is less than 3mm thick

We were at LG’s Innofest Asia last week, where the Korean tech juggernaut showcased some of their newest home appliances including a brand new OLED TV that spans just as thick as a stack of credit cards and is aptly called the W7.

LG has done quite a few OLED TVs like this in the past such as the one we’ve covered back in CES 2016, but they have made more improvements in how it can be installed in the living room, as it can now be hinged to a wall with a magnetic bracket that still is worthy to be called thin at 4mm. In contrast, the previous ones require the OLED panel to be placed on a stand that also doubles as a speaker and port hub, the Signature W7 has this single ribbed cable that does all of the transmission from its soundbar.

The display itself is a work of art to be seen: Still retaining the 2.57mm thickness, it touts narrow bezels on the sides that let you enjoy the more cinematic, immersive content. It features really deep blacks and a wide spectrum of vivid colors that stand out throughout each playback. It also has HDR, Dolby Vision, HLG, and support for Advanced HDR by Technicolor.

It’s also powered by LG’s updated WebOS 3.5 that promises easier and more streamlined user navigation, and support for 360-degree VR content once linked to a computer or an LG smartphone.

The 4.2-channel speaker, on the other hand, doesn’t lag behind as it’s one of the first to sport Dolby’s Atmos system right out of the box which touts immersive audio as you get from content that supports it. It also has two small subwoofers at the sides that automatically rises up when the need arises. The soundbar also sports those necessary input ports to keep you on track, as there are four HDMI inputs, three USB, one RF In (Antenna/Cable), one Composite In, one Component In, one Ethernet, one Optical and one minijack port available at your convenience.

The LG Signature W7 comes in two display sizes — a 77-inch and a smaller 65-inch — and is slated to arrive in the Philippines later in the year. No pricing has been announced yet for the local market, but LG is looking into pricing it as affordable as possible.
