  1. Although the the 8/4 Mbps bandwidth is nice, I am wondering about the latency. Satellite communications normally has a higher than average latency as compared to other broadband such as DSL or Cable.

  2. hmm how do you upload via satellite?

  3. 8mbps @P2,500 is not bad

  4. From the link provided, the agents are listed as TNRI, AIGS and WIT. I wonder what levels of support they will provide for this service…
    Also would like to know what is the customer premise equipment (CPE) and under what terms will the subscriber be using it (e.g. do we have to buy it?).
    Of course I should just call the agents – am just worried I’ll end up talking to someone who doesn’t know enough about the service…

  5. @cris, I don’t think the starting fee of Php2,500 is for 8Mbps. I’m thinking more like 384 or 512Kbps.

    @Andre, I guess they’ll install a dish in your home.

  6. I’m very much interested with the P2.5k service even if it will be just 512kbps (i hope not at 384 though). Municipalities with no broadband service could benefit from this. When i am in our province, i spend more or less that amount on GPRS speed! I have seen this thing in action. This service has already been installed in our town but only for the use of the LGU. i have already seen the sat dish, it has an ipstar logo on the dish.

  7. any development on this ipstart sat internet?

  8. I already inquire about the service… and it is pretty expensive.. I ask for the 2500 package.. it cost that monthly but the initial payment is too much.. something like 40k, all in all i think it will cost 50k plus..

  9. oh.. its more than pala.. hehehehe

    Silver Plan
    1. MSF Php 2,499.00
    2. OTC
    2.1. Equipment Php 45,000.00
    2.2. Installation Fee 10,000.00
    2.3. MSF 2,499.00
    ============
    57,499.00
    Plus VAT 12% 6,899.88
    ============
    Total OTC 64,398.88

    ggrrrrrrrrrrrrr… kala ko mga 5-10k yung equipment.. more than pala.. eh installation fee lang pala yun.. hehehe

  10. I’ve been into internet satellite business since 1997 i sell different services and platform from hughes iDirect, viasat Linkstar to gilat system, 8mbps downlink and 4 mbps upstream for 49$ is a load of BS, it is a misleading advertisement, you can only and truly get an 8mbps downlink if your terminal is an scpc capable and sucbscribed to an scpc service.
