Samsung‘s Galaxy S6 Edge is a beautiful device with its screen extending to both edges. The display is also reinforced with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 which should offer better protection than commonly-used displays, but what happens when you subject it to a drop test?
A user in China did this test on a functioning S6 Edge. She repeatedly smashed (not just dropped) the phone on the floor and it still worked fine afterwards with no visible cracks. You can watch the video below.
However, YouTube account TechRax did the same test but instead of just smashing the phone on on the ground he dropped the phone in different angles. Unfortunately, his S6 Edge’s display and glass body weren’t lucky enough to survive it.
As you could see, just one drop on its back and front already resulted to some nasty cracks. He could still navigate the phone but visibility greatly suffered. The lesson we could get here? There is still a great chance of the glass shattering when dropped even if it’s protected by the latest Gorilla Glass. Whether or not its display easily cracks it’s still best to buy a protective case for your S6 Edge if you care for it so much and you couldn’t stand a slight scratch on the side.
Hey, no matter how new my devices are… Why should I let these gadgets of mine dropped and cracked? Well, there are some unfortunate but many are stupid.
Well it is scratch resistant, not stupid resistant. Bakit mo naman sasadyaing ilaglag ang isang mamahaling smartphone? Ingat din di ba?
Di ko gets kng bakit kelangan ng “Premium feel” and isang smartphone, i know kelangan maganda ang kapit sa kamay pero sometimes sacrificing product strength for a premium feel/look is a no no.
