With the Asus Eee PC making a huge wave of success, parent company Asustek has just announced additional products in the Eee series. The same strategy will be followed — simple, basic and really cheap.
Three (3) additional products have been announced — a Desktop PC, an All-in-One Monitor and large-screen LCD TV.
E-DT (Desktop PC) – E-DT will use an Intel Celeron processor, with later generations adopting the new Intel Shelton ’08 platform, DiamondVille processors and the 945GC chipset. The company has set the price of the PC at between US$200-300 and will try to push it down to US$199. Monitor not included in the package. The rig alone might end up at around Php8,000 – Php10,000 each.
E-Monitor – the E-Monitor will be an all-in-one system (very much like the iMac from Apple or the XPS One from Dell) with screen sizes somewhere around 19-inches to 21-inches and will come with a built-in TV Tuner. The price – US$499 (~ Php20,000).
The E-TV – units will be somewhere in excess of 42″ with an integrated Linux-based PC functionality and will be priced about $200 more than current LCD TVs in that range.
Of the 3, I think the E-Monitor will draw the most attention similar to what the Asus Eee PC is getting right now. This has got more to do with the size, simplicity and affordability of the product. Though the E-DT is already cheap at $199, one can match the same price just by doing some bargain hunting. The LCD monitor on the other hand are very high-end products and with such market, buyers will be looking more than just a PC functionality to justify the extra cost. {source: Digitimes}
at Php1650 0% interest for 12 mos. ok na yun. sana bumaba pa presyo nila to make Eee more affordable.
now i have a reason to wait before buying a new pc hehe
@ Glo – coming to your doorstep very soon! :D
ano balita sa eee? ;-) andito kami sa LB pero luwas on monday morning. punta na doemstic airport, uwing bicol.
galing talaga ng asus
ok yan. more cheaper products :). Ang galing talaga mag-innovate ng ASUS.
hahaha natawa ako dun sa comment ni brianb… brothels?!?! (btw, yuga, I found this post on the frontpage of http://whatsikat.com)
But the EEE isn’t for me… I think it’s a glorified PDA. too, too tiny. my mom saw it at the mall and she wanted to buy it kasi nga it is much more affordable than a laptop but i don’t think it would be a practical choice for users with poor eyesight.
E-Monitor should be very popular. I can imagine it every where after it is launched, in schools, government offices, retail shops, garages, brothels, wet markets, police stations, the post office.
E-Monitor! two thumbs up…..
