Asus just showed off its DR-900 e-Reader at the CeBIT 2010 convention in Hanover, Germany.
Almost similar to the size of of the Kindle DX, the Asus DR-900 eReader boasts of very long battery life — up to 10,000 page turns on a single charge.
The 9-inch screen has a resolution of 1024×768 pixels and support for PDF, ePub and HTML files.
The device comes with WiFi connectivity with an optional 3G/HSDPA slot as well. There’s a 2GB and 4GB built-in storage with SD card slot for expansion as well as a USB port and 3.5mm jack.
No word from Asus how much these would sell for and when they’ll be out but it’s good to see some Kindle alternatives out there (hopefully, way cheaper too!).
The DR 570 looks very cool. When does it come out?

@symbiandreamsdotcom: as long as di pa lumalabas ang colored e-ink (or any colored tablet/reader) then iPad will still have an edge on the current crop of reader.
I may hold off getting an e-reader until I can have the following: colored rendering, handwriting annotation, and powerpoint/ms word support.
Well not so much on the last one. Weight will also be a consideration. :)
ciao!
Great look. Black is black :-)
I think this is a good alternative for iPad and Kindle.
Black is back!
What sets me off about Kindle DX is its white color, plus the design looks like those computers in the early 90s…
I think you forgot to metion the weight, its very important its a main consideration for me… and hopefully cheaper….
where is your iPad now, Apple fans? lolz
Even ASUS is a good killer on Apple. People just seems to not understand the real tech or innovations by others and was hooked up with Apple products. Anyways, this is the recommend ereader for everybody. I Like the design.
What is the OS?
How long is the battery?
How fast the boot up?
an absolute reader! with this, you won’t find yourself itching to hit the browser for facebook or twitter, (or even yugatech *grins) If I get an e-book reader, this is it, along with the kindle. and the likes.
Abe, much cheaper than the ipad i suppose?
