Epson proudly announced that one of their projectors is the key that makes Star City’s newest attraction a possibility. Called Star Dome, it utilizes Epson’s high-end projector which is the first and only installation of its kind here in the country (and only third in the whole world).
The projector, an Epson EB-Z8450WU, is capable of a 360-degree installation that projects HD-quality WUXGA images with a 7,000-lumen lamp. You’re probably wondering what it can do for the attraction. The Star Dome is able to offer an interactive giant book that users can manipulate by swiping, giant ‘talking’ heads animated through projection mapping, and live-action/holographic technology hybrid story telling — all thanks to Epson’s projector.
The company’s Lyn Lizarondo, Product Manager for Visual Intruments, explains why their projector was chosen to be used for this setup — “Compared to our competitor’s similarly-priced 1-chip projectors, the colors that Epson 3LCD projectors provide are usually three times brighter. With brighter colors, stories come alive, presentations make a bigger impact, and entertainment – your HD movies and 3D games – becomes much more immersive.”
To experience this amusing technology, head on over to Star City and check out Star Dome for yourselves.
