With the Loop 2, we are able to view our activity levels for the day by touching the capacitive button and browsing different stats. While cycling through the info was fine, we found it quite troublesome that it did not default back to the time function. If the last function I checked was my activity, it will stay at that function until we cycle back to time, thus losing its appeal and dependency as a watch.
Another weakness is the LED lights’ visibility in bright lighting conditions. It is near impossible to see anything on the LED screen on a bright and sunny day.
Being an entry-level fitness tracker, the Polar Loop 2 holds its ground against other fitness trackers on the market. It offers a variety of trackable data and is quite precise with it. The look is clean and simple, and comfortable enough to be worn all day and night. It holds true to its “24/7 design” that promises constant usage and functionality.
The company claims that the Loop 2’s 38mAh Li-Po battery could last “up to 8 days with 24/7 activity tracking and 1h/day training”. Although with full features turned on, the battery only lasted around 3-4 days. It will probably last the full 8 days if features such as alarms and smart notification are turned off and syncing and usage is kept to a bare minimum. But in doing so, the Loop 2 will loose its appeal. Additionally, a full charge from flat zero takes about an hour.
There is no battery indicator on the Loop 2 which makes it difficult to gauge battery life, but it does show indications of low battery: the display starts to dim at around 20% battery life. At 10% the Loop 2 will notify you with a “Low-Batt” message on the display. When critical, it will display a “Charge” message and nothing else.
At Php7,495, the Polar Loop 2 is in line with other entry level fitness bands. If the features you are looking for are accurate tracking, wearability and simplicity, then this is a fitness tracker worth getting. I, personally, would not get this without the heart rate sensor as it pushes the Loop 2 and the PolarFlow app to its maximum potential.
Polar’s Loop 2 is available locally at Toby’s, Runnr, OV- ATC, and Glorietta. Although there are three color selections, we’re told that only white and pink are available as of now.
